It also has something to do with the amount of money you're investing with, though. Most of the people on /biz/ have an amount invested where if they play more fields than just one they're basically dispersing the money and not making that much in return. There's a point where you have enough money to invest in different things which can net you a good amount back and it makes sense, and there's a point where your initial capital is so low that diversifying just does not make any sense, despite it being sound advice for people with more capital, it's not always applicable.
