That's your brain betraying you anon. I'm like this, and it took me a long time to understand that skills are just a part of what HR look for.

As long as you are willing to learn, not too thick as a brick and likeable for your team, you don't have to worry.

Think it in reverse, why were you hired? Why you and not another if you're that bad? What will cost them the most money? What the ideal worker should be like?

If you think it rationally you' ll see it's just your brain farting. They don't hire wrong people because it's too much of hassle to fire them and get back into the recruiting process.

Also your average guy is not that good at their job and "make it till you make it" has never been more true than in the age of nepotism.

Breathe, it will be fine.

On the auspicious day of my new employment, I eagerly took on the challenge of a new position, though my initial enthusiasm was soon replaced by a sense of apprehension as I found myself in a role for which I was clearly underqualified. My inadequacy was immediately apparent as I struggled to comprehend the complexities of the job, which were far beyond my level of expertise.

Despite my fears and doubts, I persevered, determined to prove myself to my new colleagues. However, as the days wore on, it became increasingly apparent that my efforts were in vain, and my shortcomings became more and more pronounced. My colleagues looked upon me with a mixture of confusion and pity, as they struggled to comprehend how someone as unprepared as myself could have been hired.

As time went on, I found myself paralyzed with fear at the thought of quitting, as the prospect of losing my livelihood was too much to bear. I felt trapped, caught in a web of my own inadequacies, as my team slowly but surely came to the realization that I was not only underqualified, but utterly incompetent.

Despite my best efforts, it was inevitable that I would be dismissed from my position. I had failed to meet the standards expected of me, and my lack of expertise had become an insurmountable obstacle. As I left the office for the last time, I couldn't help but feel a sense of shame and humiliation, knowing that I had let myself down, and had been unable to rise to the challenge of my new job.

Who cares as long as you're getting paid bro? If they really don't like you they'll let you know by firing you. That's all there is to it really.

Get an account and use ChatGPT to make you seem smart now. You'll learn as you go. Really is a difference maker for just getting started in programming. And also for Excel data analysis. It's pretty wild. Use the paid version for ChatGPT 4 and can go next level from what I've heard, I'm just using 3.5 now.

As a engineer our PO. PM and all the other middle management scum doesn't know jack shit. They are just faking it and using big words. Today i spent almost 6 hours playing DOTA 1 on Kazakhstani servers. Had a meeting to report that a task for 2 minutes took me 5 hours and got complimented.

Drain the system.

If you were fired for performance then you can.

if you were fired for “gross misconduct” you usually can’t collect unemployment because the company will try to fight it. but if OP was a SWE at Oracle or something I doubt they’ll try to fight it, they’ll probably just be happy to not pay $180k+ benefits to a useless retard.

It might just be Imposter Syndrome. What makes you think you are unqualified? Everyone feels overwhelmed with a new job and it takes 3 months to have any efficient competency. Your employers know this so don't worry. If you don't know how to do something, ask.

Or tell us what you're doing and we can help? Cheers fren, and congrats on your first big Boi job
