Not really. It's the succession between Bongo, Drumpf and Brandon that really did you. What made America feared is that no matter the president, and his party, the general external policies continued in the same vein. Then Trump came along and a whole new streak of policies appeared overnight, and Europe started to look for a standing army, just like Japan and Korea, and the whole "nobody gets an army but we provide fair trade deals in return" no longer stood, as Trump also started blatantly funding US companies to the detriment of other foreign industries.
Then Biden came along and demanded that nobody decouples from US army but also doubled down on Trump support for US companies.
So now we have a US acting like a spoiled kid that no longer proposed fair deals that's also schizophrenic because we can't predict who will win next presidential elections and what policies he will have. So they're no longer a reliable partner long term, kind of like a banana republic, and everyone can see it. Comparr that to Russia, China, Germany, France, Japan, India or Saudi Arabia that have had very stable stances geopolitically speaking. Even Italy, that went through a drastic shift towards far right, didn't rock the boat and withstood their position in NATO despite the party having always been pro Russia, because they represent Italy now and the function comes with its luggage, and if a change is to be made it has to be gradual and smooth.
The biggest factor in all this is that the US are no longer reliable, as a friend or foe, and stable China and Russia appear more and more as safer bets. Say what you want but Putin has been very consistent in his speeches and stood by any international agreement signed by Russia.

Last year there was less demand because of covid halt, especially in Asia.
This time around every industry is at full blast. With the soft ban on russian oil everyone has to adjust the trade routes at a premium, except for China and India. The premium was priced in when the cap was decided. What Russia just did is convince most producers to cut production pro rata so the price goes even higher, and the rerouting price goes above the acceptable price that was priced in. Every oil producer wins because they get same or similar revenues for less oil while it forces western countries to abandon the price cap, which has already started happening, and thus the US alliance to fracture.
Putin is truly playing a masterful long game up until now, by basically raising the stakes of the sanctions against Russia. The other countries go along with it because MBS and the like have also been criticised a lot by the US, threatened even, lately, and they fear they can be next. Russia must have convinced them this is the time to kill the beast so they're giving it a try. This started happening now because China needed to be on board as Russia alone wouldn't be followed by anyone. China hedged its bets until now but was pushed to action after the ban on chinese companies, the whole balloon fiasco etc. I wouldn't be surprised if russians services had something to do with the US chinese relations souring.

Russia is an incompetent, corrupt and defeated husk of a pseudo-nation that is filtered from world affairs no matter what happens in the future. The future simply does not contain Russia in any capacity. However, /biz/ and /pol/ are essentially just bot posting, pajeets and actual vatnik shills. It's amusing reading these delusions.

China and the EU are the biggest winners of all of this, so much is true. American influence and power are on a decline, but that doesn't mean Russia has "won" or is winning or will return in any capacity. The vacuum left be both will be filled by the EU, China, and a multitude of smaller countries ranging from the Middle East to (if they play their cards right) Africa, Brazil and maybe even India. The general outlook for all except the US and Russia is a positive one. And Britain of course, Britain post-Brexit has no future whatsoever. Ties between China and the EU will strengthen, and many smaller countries will play along, primarily because neither of those two has any intrinsic desire to impose its will on smaller countries. It's all about business, and this will be proven more and more.

And to drive the point home for chuddies - Putin is the most incompetent leader of any country in the last 500 years, or even more. He is the clown of Humanity. There is nothing within him or Russia that has any relevance or ability to influence the future, or the present for that matter.

Definitely. We've seen two blocks form : USA vs China, and a third one with Russia and third worlders. China and third worlders + Russia are on board for now w but it won't last. As soon as the US is down a notch or destroyed they will definitely split. Russia doesn't trust China and China hates Russia since they used to be their vassal + blame anything Mao did on the soviets.

Twitter no longs manipulates trends in Japan. Japan also has reasons to distrust the US since the Plaza Accord and more recently the NSA spying that came to light.

There has been some effort to break free like the home brew fighter jet.

The US also has been stepping up to South Korea in detriment of Japan, Trump would have removed troops from Japan were it not for a rushed new deal.

Also, if Japan fully antagonizes Russia then it can essentially give up its disputed northern islands.

Not to mention that China is a big enough issue Japan has to concern itself with without Russia and all of this nonsense is pushing Russia into Chinas's embrace.

Besides, Japan has intelligence agencies, a reasonable amount of the lies from the US and Europe regarding this whole thing must be known in high levels given even the general public can infer a number of them by taking one step away from mainstream media.
