Verge is good as long as you know it's limitations. You has a user ARE fully and properly anonymized. Your transaction is not. Bonus is it's fully implemented right now while very few privacy coins are.
It also uses proven methods and doesn't try to self bake shit.

Not OP but also a software dev with 18 years of experience programming:

Once Ethereum goes to proof of stake, the network performance is going to improve by orders of magnitude.

It will truly expose Bitcoins weakness being tied to proof of work once the Casper update is released.

Now, once Lightning Network comes out, I'd expect that to run even faster than Ethereum. But thats an off chain solution so not as impressive as Ethereum still. I'm still bullish on both long term though.

That's wrong. Release candidate 1 is already complete and tested on the main Bitcoin. Its release is imminent. I'd say at most it'll come out in a 2 months then take about a month for enough nodes to come up to take network load off the Bitcoin blockchain directly

except proof of stake is a literal meme

if miners can just create entire blockchain histories at any given instant it undermines the entire point of using a blockchain.

the bitcoin core dev paul sztorc proved that POS is shit and even got the lead ethereum researcher to admit it.

now, I know its 2018 and tech doesn't matter, but at least be aware of what the smart people are thinking.

Thanks, I wanted to write the same. Proof of Stake sounds nice at first but has severe limitations and risks like those you mentioned.
It also has other more economic problems.
