Ted Yin, co creator of Facebook failed Diem's HotStuff protocol with Dahlia, and architect of Avax, joins Chainlink Labs

>> No.54418158

Ted Yin is arguably the biggest gigabrain in crypto at the moment that nobody know. Hotstuff is used by many of the new L1s, Avalanche (Snow family) is the strongest consensus algo to ever exist (but rather complicated so most teams are too brainlets to understand it deeply), desu Avalabs kinda capitalized on the innovation completely by naming their product literally "Avalanche" kek

also source?

Avalanche is basically a "Blockchain as a Service" platform, anyone can launch their own Subnets running whatever VM they want, its fully customizable and can scale to millions of Validators thanks to the Avalanche Consensus.
Now thanks to Avalanche Warp Messaging all these Subnets can communicate with each other and the decentralized Oracle usecase here is that the Chainlink Subnet can export its data to any new Subnet at an extremely low cost, with sub second finality and pretty much trustless.
this abstracts away the need to bootstrap Oracles for each Subnet which is very expensive and time consuming.

Why the fuck did he stop working at Avalabs, he was working on a new DB solution called Mangrove and a completelly rewrittem EVM for Avalanche afaik.

Kek basically this. Most good tokens will be this way. People keep expecting another. BTC or ETH like run for their shitcoin but we are beyond that. The closest thing you have is LINK because of the sheer retarded conviction holders have which is the same as ETH and BTC but at smaller scale. AVAX and a few other L1’s have it at even a smaller scale, but it doesn’t matter. Too many shitcoins in the world now. Everyone thinks their own bags are the best, so if you’re not in ETH or BTC early you simply have a smaller army. It will take time for those armies to build as shitcoins die and people swap into things with fundamental value.

One thing I can say with certainty is stuff like LINK, AVAX, etc WILL reach ETH-like valuations in time and leave behind anyone who isn’t in now.

It's probably nearly done, the next update reduces gas fees dramatically, so MangroveDB was obviously on the horizon. Emin confirmed this in the latest all access. I think Ted Yin will become more of a consultant at Ava Labs once MangroveDB is deployed. Anyway it'll be the first question in the next Q&A on all access, you can bet your ass.
