i don't understand the sentiment towards getting a job; as if it really offers any valuable skills or even really any money, with how high inflation is now & the changing job climate not being conducive to long term success

unless there is a specific job which those who have recommended it have in mind

The absolute most sure fire way to make decent money is to save and invest it in stable assets. The second most sure fire way to make money is to start your own business and sell a product you are intimate on all the details of.
