Options if you use enough autism give you near-infinite ways to trade. The issue here is no one actually uses a trade plan, rules, or has a good grasp on options mechanics to game the system properly.
So for example if you want to make money but don't know where the market will go, just spam a back ratio spread and walk away for a month or so. If you know we're in a crab market spam a butterfly or a iron condor. If you happen to know we'll stay in a bullish/bearish market spam credit spreads, etc...
In short if you do some work on how options work you can better exploit them, but do so from a place of safety and use a demo account first until you iron out a good method over time.

The most idiot-proof one I shill is credit spreads, specifically credit spreads on index options like SPX, RUT, XSP.
Main thing here is that there's no early exorcise risk, so if something wacky happens you can more or less hold the position until exportation IF you have too.
