That's all well and good. But the reason China will never be a superpower is that it isn't capable of maintaining an empire that assures its security and supply of critical resources.
China is and always will be dependent on its neighbors and suppliers goodwill for its survival.
The USSR and USA were superpowers because both could survive on their own terms. They didn't even need anything from each other or have to directly compete for anything the other considered essential, which is a large reason the Cold War never turned into an actual war.
China will never be a superpower because the second it tries to assert its security interests, it will get ass-stomped by Japan, the US, and India.

Russia may attempt to do something similar with the BRICS bloc. the wildcard here is actually China, they are dependent on export markets and it is unlikely that Russia alone can fill the void if China doesn't play ball with NATO.
