I'm on LinkedIn and Indeed and all I fucking see every day are SaaS companies, cloud companies, etc. where what they build are apps for other businesses to run an actual business. I never see companies where I'm like "oh wow, that company is doing something cool!"

Where the fuck are the companies doing things that are cool? I make $200k a year right now I would literally accept $80k if I could just find a company where I actually like the thing I'm helping make.

Boston Dynamics, that is unless you are a brainlet.

Boston Dynamics is nothing but an overcapitalized youtube channel.

You're jealous.

Their robots can't do anything but carefully choreographed routines for youtube videos. Only redditors are impressed by BD.

Over 50% of all jobs are “bullshit jobs” that is to say they are totally pointless and serve no purpose to society.

For white collar work, this rises to over 90%.

Of the 50% of non-bullshit jobs, over 75% of the time working is spent on bullshit tasks.

Just take the $200k a year and accept the fact that your work isn’t going to provide with any innate meaning and purpose.

I think it's too big for me.. hard to actually be more than a cog in a wheel at a company like that unless you do something cool like are a robotics engineer or whatever.

>>54310345
What's the play here if I more value the innate meaning and purpose? Do I like... be a guidance counselor? Or some sort of environmental conservation job or something where I'm out collecting mushrooms in the forest for like $40k/year?

Get a hobby that gives you purpose and meaning.

If you’re making $200k working with Software, it wouldn’t be hard to switch to temporary contracts and work half the time (for half the money) and dedicate the other half to pursuing whatever you want.

Trust me, those people who you think are doing jobs that provide them with innate purpose and meaning really aren’t. I guarantee you the vast majority of what they do is bullshit unnecessary bureaucratic box ticking.

The simple fact of life is, anything actually worth doing is going to be done for free because people want to do it. If you’re being paid to do something, it’s because it’s either bullshit or just plain shit.

I work for a Wall St. listed company. I love a lot of my job. I get to solve really interesting problems in new ways and stuff that needs to work at scale (I wrote APIs that handle >600 bil requests/day - no joke, a millisecond is considered basically a year).
All of that being said, the bureaucracy is retarded to navigate, everything is cumbersome and I have been looking for a start-up to join, but I can't find any that is ambitious and willing to take on hard challenges, it's mainly busy work or shit like "green energy", stuff that has basically no future.
I am starting my own thing. Hopefully, that'll make enough money to allow me to dedicate all of my time to it.

I can't bro, my side quests make no money yet. I am white, I don't scam people out of their time without due reward. Until it makes enough money to pay off the people maintaining it, I won't hire anyone to work on my hobby.

Well that sounds like you have a Bullshit job.

Do your hobby on the weekends and pray that’s enough to satisfy you.

If your skill set is “working on the business side of things” the fact is you’re going to be doing pointless bullshit no matter where you work.

Boston Dynamics is an accessory for VCs that want to have something cool and trendy in their portfolio. Their demonstrations are heavily rehearsed and meaningless, they contribute nothing. They are like a trophy wife, passed between rich fucks and discarded.

Boston Dynamics is a pretty racist company. From the looks of it, they only seem to hire white people and a chink/Asian here and there.

Someone needs to sue them so they can have a bit more diversity on their team.
