Banks wont be safe until maybe the next round of earnings calls. Those banks will need a serviceable balance sheet by the time we get to look at the books. That’s roughly april.

Yellen making a clarifying statement to reassure investors about backing regional bank deposits would go a decent way. The Fed will need to take some of these toxic assets banks have and write them off and restructure the debt that’s already been defaulted (which they’re already doing by the looks of their total assets pool) FRC is the flagship. With that 30 billion dollar handout their position is secure, but it’ll probably still look bad on their balances without a capital injection. They have access to loans, but they’re borrowing at 4.5% rates which makes it unfeasible for them to turn significant profits on that borrowed cash. The fed will likely have to offer them a special rate on that.

It sucks to be so aware of what's happening and I still can't beat the market for more than a month.

A month ago I knew google would probably touch 90 and then shoot up. I bought some at 94 with the goal of doubling down at 90 but on the day SVB was closed by regulators I actually thought everything would drop hard so I sold at 91. I missed an easy 15%.

I also knew at the beginning of the month that interest rates were reaching their peak, and even though I did make some nice gains riding TMF from around 8 to 9.70 I did not invest enough.

Three of my stocks fell hard and did not recover much or at all in the last two weeks and I am behind the market anyway.

Many such cases I guess

Given the damage even 4% yields on the 30 year have done, my answer is no, at least not holding to maturity; no reason to. BOILers might get a pump today, Henry Hub is up over 3% right now. My own move, were I still in it, would have been to buy the sub 4 dip yesterday so that the next pump would meet my losses half way and sell (and I would sell if I had bought in on that dip). It's already reflected in the premarket. Ah, HH is dropping back some now but BOIL has gone even slightly higher. From what I've seen, the public facing HH meter somehow lags BOIL by a little. Anyway, I hope you all make the best decisions possible with your capital. The last thing I want is for you to lose in a bad trade. Read about how trade worked in rome/ancient greece. Then the medicis and knights templar to understand early banking. You will learn how commodities were most of the trading and people did issue bonds as far back as babylonia that were promises of grain payments at a later date. Sort of like current futures on cme are like now. People would prefund a trading vessel and make money years later when it returned. Then check out the dutch east india company and see how they accumulated wealth as a small nation by dominating trade. You can really grasp a lot of this just from wikipedia. But when people say war shouldnt be about money they dont really understand how wrong they are when historically small countries gained power and security simply by capturing trade sources overseas.

John was a middle-aged office worker who had been toiling away in the same job for nearly 20 years. He was completely and utterly bored with his life. Nothing ever seemed to change, and he felt like he was stuck in a never-ending cycle of monotony.

One day, John had had enough. He couldn't take it anymore. He had been treated poorly by his boss and coworkers for too long and he felt like a caged animal, desperate for freedom.

John walked to the window of his office on the 29th floor and looked out at the city below. He wondered if anyone would miss him if he were gone. Without giving it another thought, he opened the window and jumped out into the void.

John fell for what felt like an eternity before finally hitting the ground with a loud thud. His body was broken and his spirit crushed. All of his years of frustration had come to this. He hadn't expected it to end this way, but he was relieved that his pain was finally over.

When the police arrived, they found John's lifeless body amidst a pile of shattered glass. As they surveyed the scene, they couldn't help but feel sorry for the man who had taken such desperate measures to escape his mundane life.

Read the Austrian Economists' rebuttals to Marx. There's many to pick from. I had a class on what you're broadly looking for, History of Economic Thought. It was taught by a Mises Institute member. The curriculum went Richard Cantillon -> Adam Smith -> Marx -> Various Austrians.

Nice! Yeah id try finding more of those types of books out there. Search university presses, they often filter by department. Then see if you can find cheaper or older editions on thriftbooks or something like that. Once you learn about all that stuff it makes sense why we have such finalization of stuff. Its so much easier to handle than the much risker stuff of premodern business.

Marx was a bad writer but the yellow journalism parts at the beginning of Capital were decent and they're corroborated by other accounts of the early days of the industrial revolution in England saying that conditions for the average pleb were genuinely horrible. It's not unreasonable to predict a revolution based on that. What Marx failed to consider was that the people in charge just made working conditions better and then no revolution was needed. By that point, however, Marxism had become a big social grift that aspiring dictators would spend the next 150 years latching on to because the average pleb doesn't understand the history behind it all.

See, this is your brain on /pol/...
There was never an instance in recent history where the Frenchies accomplished anything by protesting lightly and maybe lighting a trashbin on fire.
You are romanticizing stuff you read in a history book somewhere, which was probably entirely fabricated anyway as history becomes mostly unverifiable 8 to 12 years after the fact.
