The yield curve is inverted to the point that every loan they lend is done at rates lower than the market rate for deposits right now - market rate being the fed funds rate.

You can look past all of this and imagine a point in the future where your high-quality bank makes money again, but there's an opportunity cost to wait that long. Things may change. Your bank may even hit some massive liquidity issue and go bust. Banks are typically sitting around 10x leveraged.
