Jerome Powell is a punk ass bitch for bailing out some 3rd rate mismanaged bank. What happened to the years worth of work of QT, Jerome? All of it just gets dumped into the trashcan and for what? Shitty tech startups that will NEVER make money? Practically incintivising banks to take on huge risks knowing they'll get made whole to the last, uninsured cent. Fuck you, Jerome. Candy ass faggot, Edition.

Only someone with the mind of a woman could come up with a solution like this. It is, of course, not a solution. It’s also basically guaranteed to fail because whatever meager asset gains might be gotten will be completely devoured by inflation. It’s not as though it will help with the debt either because these traitors will never stop pissing money away on bullshit.

idk if anyone remembers me, but "Anon who bought AMD at $120 and doubled down at $60 averaging at $90" here.

I sold at the end of the day today. Made a couple grand. For awhile it looked like a daily candle with a tiny body with a huge top wick, after a HUGE volatility move upward. I took the money and ran before the weekend. Maybe it goes up more without me but with all the bank shit going on, I don't want to risk going red again after holding it for so long, idk if it was even more than a year or not yet. Got out somewhere in the upper $97's with 300 shares at $90 average.

Just glad to be out. God I never want to do long term shit again, that experience was awful. I love AMD too and want to get in at a better price because I'm expecting at LEAST one more major dump this year because of current events, but holy fuck does it suck seeing your position with thousands of dollars negative for months and months and months, just waiting and hoping during a bear market that has little to do with your company's fundamentals. just macro central banking or goverment shit. Learned a fuckload though. Tons of stuff that will give me profit over the next couple of decades, for the rest of my life even.

So, anyways, here's the current front page of Imgur. They seem pretty sane, huh?

It's a great feeling getting out of a long bagheld position, especially at a profit. There's something psychological about the feeling that even taking a huge win can't match. Be careful with this line of thinking though. If you go on expecting a future dump, you might regret missing any further upside. Best to just move on for good and stop looking at the position, to accept that you'll likely never hold that bag again. Find a new ticker that you're less attached to.

Does anyone here have any thoughts on ADBE's acquisition of Figma? or toughts on ADBE in general

I feel like its a red flag that their top-line growth is slowing down, and that they will go on a M&A spree heading forward. Figma had a revenue of $400M in FY2022, so this acquisition is 50x of that. Figma also has a revenue growth of >100%, so I guess that those numbers are baked into the premium as well.
ADBE has a really sticky product, but if it wants to keep its growth valuation of 31x PE, then it needs to maintain its double digit y/y revenue growth or at least increase their operating margins.

They did this by switching over to a SaaS model in 2012. Their creative cloud subscription puts a lot of their design software into a bundle.
Its obviously a good company, but they need to maintain their growth if they want to keep their share price. I don't like the fact that their stock-based compensation cancels out their stock repurchases.

It makes sense for corporate licensing where they can scale up/down based on usage, but it's such shit for regular consumers.
They don't really need much growth to justify that valuation. Just a 3% inflation adjusted yield. Similar to Visa/Mastercard. People will hold as long as they think it's a safe monopoly. Beats treasuries.

Growth is a bonus of course, and a sudden loss of growth would be seen as weakness. I don't think ADBE is incredibly interesting, but it's a decent buy and forget stock.

>tell me a humerous story about jerome powell raising the basis points by .75

Once upon a time, Jerome Powell, the Chairman of the Federal Reserve, decided to raise the basis points by 0.75. He thought it was a great idea to show the world that the US economy was strong and stable.

But little did he know that this decision would create chaos in the financial markets. The stock market started to fall, and people were panicking. Investors were calling their brokers, asking what was going on.

One investor, in particular, was really upset. He had put all of his savings into the stock market, and now he was losing money because of Powell's decision. He decided to call the Federal Reserve and give them a piece of his mind.

When he got through to Powell's office, he was put on hold. After a few minutes, Powell picked up the phone and said, "Hello, this is Jerome Powell, how can I help you?"

The investor said, "Mr. Powell, why did you raise the basis points by 0.75? Don't you know that you're ruining my life?"

Powell replied, "I'm sorry, sir, I didn't mean to ruin your life. I was just trying to do what's best for the economy."

The investor said, "Well, you're not doing what's best for me! Can't you just lower the basis points back down?"

Powell thought for a moment and said, "Okay, I'll tell you what. I'll lower the basis points back down, but you have to promise me something."

The investor said, "What do I have to promise?"

Powell said, "You have to promise me that you'll invest in something more stable, like gold or bonds."

The investor laughed and said, "Okay, Mr. Powell, you got yourself a deal."

And that's how Jerome Powell saved the day by making a deal with an angry investor. The lesson? Never underestimate the power of a good negotiation.

it's fine. this is mostly a macro issue to me. i'd love for the macro situation to improve, even if i missed out on gains. i'd absolutely love to be wrong. i can get in at a higher price during better times. i'd love that. TA is still TA, FA is still FA. i learned my lesson though. "it's a good company, let's try buying and holding" isn't as great as it sounds at first. it works, but it's going to feel awful for months, for some maybe years. besides my 401k and ESPP, never again.

60 is half of 120. 120 was already significantly down from 160-ish, right? that's about it, and i believe in AMD's fundamentals and semiconductors in general. we're literally just in a shitty macro situation, has little to do with the actual companies. all you need to do is educate yourself on how important semiconductors are to modern life and you have your answer in all honesty. NVDA is too expensive for my taste comparatively, but they're also great. really any major semiconductor company is great. i work for one that i won't mention the name of. internal news is highly positive despite the macros currently, that's all you need to know.

as for wisdom: learn TA. whatever time frame, time or tick charts, doesn't matter. learn TA for entries. after that it's all risk management. learn when to cut your losses. the shorter the time frame, the more important TA is, the longer the time frame the more important FA and macros are. hope that helps. im getting drunk tonight on a job well done.

Not denying that inflation, etc means times are rough now. Nor am I saying a bank going down in flames is a good thing but I do think the whole "ah we're fucked, fuck life's a big shat, fuck it all" is overblown. Reason that bank shat was due mostly to it lending money to risky startup companies, companies that by the very name implies "hey we can go belly up tomorrow" if things turn bad. Plus the CEO dude didn't do more to fix the problem before he opened his mouth to the public. If he'd said "hey we've taken steps to fix things" all while being open with the issues then perhaps things would've turned out different.

What tech company do you think is going to print the most cash flows this decade? My eyes are on meta despite the hate. I already see VR sets strapped on people in public. I dont see AI as something the public will get to profit off in a stock very easily. I also trust zuckerberg more then other tech titans like musk who are distracted on internet/politics drama. I kind of believe in the /g/ autism that the computer will be a VR headset for the tech illiterate and computers will be left for autismos and nerds as operating systems become crappier.

This. He's ruthless too with those recent firings. Whenever Facebook is wasting money he can just snap his fingers and be done with it. And now he's proven he's willing to do it. META has basically no supply chain either like NVDA.

Elon just bought that turd twitter. Zuck can either build the next competitor or acquire the next competitor. The money in AI will be learning from OUR personal data and META is going to dominate.

I'm just not sure how you value a lot of these companies especially in the tech sphere. Worst zuck did was blow a shitton money in 2022 and become a joke but who gives a shit when you got dumb rich so fast and go for free PR then proceed to axe the weak staff. I just think you gotta move with the times and pick the tech company that can pivot to the next generation and going hard into VR is a good step even if it seems bad. Apple was backwards looking for making mp3 players and telephones easy to consumers and got dumb rich in 00s. Power users arent cash cows its the low hanging fruit audience. Kids now will grow up into wanting to use some oversimplified interface thats the cash cow. My only fear would be apple getting a big jump on some VR/AR hardware and push meta out. Its about betting on that next ipod.

Nothing matters. At the end of the day, every company wants to make themselves look good, so text especially is full of fluff and forward-looking statements. At best, it might give you forewarning about market trends to think about.
Numbers are generally trustworthy, but it's possible to account in certain ways and massage the data (legally) to present it in a positive light.
For example, Hasbro and Funko have both been allegedly destroying inventory; due to tax rules, they might be able to write this off as a taxable loss to make their margins look better. At best, the text might have it as a footnote.
Really, what you want to see is growth in every category. WMT has been expanding in grocery/online sales, for example. As long as number go up, people are happy.

1m candles, soon 100ms candles maybe (orderbook); i just ramp up periods to retarded amounts to match.

the indicator matters less than backtesting over 9000 combinations of them and cherry picking pretty 45 degree straight angle up equity charts.

indicator is worthless if it doesn't come with a good backtest, and default parameters are equally meaningless.
>macd 12,26,9
why?
who picked 12,26,9?
if 72,1085,272 backtests better than that is the correct answer; not 12,26,9; but chances are you will find lots of good backtest combinations and you can start picking behavior (targeting longer/shorter periods)
>muh form the indicator to the chart fitting
no shit, it works; also do it with entire pairs and screen 1000 of them.
running macd 12,26,9 against 1000 pairs and then picking 5 where it performs awesome will; suprise, probably be a good idea

further if an indicator does not backtest well then you should not allow it into your consciousness. having ema 200 up on your chart if trading against ema 200 actually backtests like shit is going to negatively influence your trading decisions.

you must act with a clean chart.
your intuition is the best indicator, your brain was built to recognize patters; just realize nothing else but the line matters. news, wars, it is all a result of the line. the line goes down; wars will happen, economy will do bad, etc; line goes up, economy will do good, people will be happy. everything follows the line not the other way around.

If the Fed can let a bunch of other regional banks die, inflation will be dead in a few months. The credit crunch should take a lot of the slush out of the system and put an end to inflation. What this current administration won’t like is the flight to the safety of the Big 4 banks, and they don’t like when those banks get bigger

you won't make money in the long run selling calls or using options in general. they are not meant to be used all the time, only in certain situations.
