Correct. But you kinda need a job to make you value the other free time that you have and to use it wisely. NEETs talk a lot of shit about self-directed study in math or philosophy or whatever the fuck but none of them ACTUALLY do it - they spend their time collecting TF2 hats. This is evident because if you DO throw yourself into study and if you do it for hours and hours a day, then at that point, it's hard not to leverage it into something that will pay you for it.

For example, a NEET says they study math every single day to a high level and they've taught themselves to program etc. because these are their interests. But if those are your interests to the point you dedicate entire days to them, it doesn't make sense to do it for free when a company will pay you 80k to do the same thing WFH.

Bottom line: NEETs lie. The only self betterment they're taking part in is racking up Steam achievements.

but anyway, masters are not for improving your employability, they are to further ingratiate yourself into an academia environment and better understand how to advance your academic skills and so forth, preparing you to actually write articles for journals instead of being just undergrad trash, and also preparing you for a phd.
you might say academia is trash and worthless, which is potentially a valid opinion, but nonetheless masters are mainly about advancing yourself as an academic rather than a worker.
