i want to move to germany too, from the US
ive taken 3 semesters of german in universitaet but that was almost 10 years ago now so im rusty as hell
if i do duolingo for a year and then take a german language class once i get over there on a job seekers visa or something, do you think that is enough of a foundation to at least survive over there?
what are the best cities? i heard theres more english speakers in the west, but i also dont want to live in an expat bubble or somewhere degenerate like berlin

If you get an IT job over there they'll expect you to speak in English anyway. Many companies have an official policy that you have to speak English at work but expect people to totally ignore that and have conversations in German too. German is easy though, i'm sure you'd pick it up again real quick.

I have worked in Germany and their work culture is somewhat different from what i'm used to (danish).
They are not keen on breaks, they go to work to work. They also has less bullshit in their workplace (mandatory tests and courses about nothing).
I would prefer living in Germany over England, it's a nice country, the people are nice and living expenses are fairly cheap.
Not a fan of the work-work thing though..

German women are much less gross.
