When BTC drops in value, the BTC price of an alt should rise to reflect this... It's backwards... Is there a scenario where it gracefuly falls a few K, recovers a K or so, falls a few K, recovers a K or so.... until it rots away to nothing? I feel like this would be best for the altcoins giving them ample time to heal inbetween dips.
