I'm retarded and probably gonna kms eventually.

So you blew up twice. Yeah, I had to learn the hard way too. Good lessons in that if you really look back at how exactly things went wrong, step by step.

In hindsight, trading cost me a lot of money, mostly from opportunity cost. Money that I lost that I could have just sunk into something which would at least have 10x'd. Or psychologically, becoming risk averse just before the last bull market (lol) due to losing more than I was comfortable with. Or swing trading a core holding into a bunch of newly created alts, chasing fresh pumps during peak bull mania, in the end only to realize I would have made more money with less effort just holding onto my core bag and dumping near the highs.

I'm decent at trading now, net profitable, but haven't traded much the past 6 months. Last year was great up until ~October when the dollar trend faded. Just not the kind of environment that works for my method ever since. Trading is very much an "in the zone" sort of thing - you should only press the gas when the results feel effortless, and it becomes a flow between you and a system. Once shit starts going sideways, time to step back and watch the show.

My advice is if you want to trade, do it with a small portion of your capital. Maybe 10%, 20% max. And then only risk 3-5% of that amount at any one time, across all trades. The rest of your capital is DCA only. Yep, there's nothing glorious about it. It's reddit tier. You can't gloat later about "catching the bottom" or "catching the top". But you'll scrape the bottom and distribute the top, and catch the meat of the move with a considerable profit, rather than end with a loss. Looking back, that's exactly what I wish I did. I made my way into six figure hell this past cycle, which is great and all... but I would have made it by now if all I changed was DCA the lows instead of trying to swing.

We may see a crash this year. Let that be your opportunity.

I got a long way before I'll ever be into crypto again but completely true there was moments where I actually recovered 20k from 30k loss but held on only to lose it rapidly.
I had a mental breakdown and literally took 10k and threw it into an alt that pumped 80% like a fucking idiot, I just had a tramatic event happen infront of me and caused me to snap which in a numb state went and threw it all into a coin I had been watching for a year and I got immediately killed it dropped 80% and took my portfolio down to 2k
(this last time)
Then I got down to 500, somehow hit an alt that got me to 2.5k and hoped maybe I could claw back my 10k.
Nope chased pumps lost it all, quit my job.
Joined a new job, got fired.
Filed for unemployment got denied and here I am.
Completely behind in life and honestly numb again to anything.

I snapped at some homeless faggot with an unleashed dog and chased him three blocks telling him next time I'll chop his fucking dogs head off while he watches.
Yeah I'm not in a great place kek.

Cops did go find him and told him to fucking leash his dog or it's gone thank god for that haven't seen the manlet since.

nothing wrong with that, there's always opportunity when you are ready

My first blowup (late 2018) led to depression and suicidal ideation. Same as you I tried to make it back, in that sort of frame of mind, only to dig a deeper hole until I went broke.

Second blowup (Aug 2020) I got complacent after a good win streak, took a risk without an escape plan and "DCA'd" into a collapsing altcoin lmao. I missed the first part of the bullrun due to being risk averse after allowing myself to get put into that position.

Key takeaways I've learned from other traders/investors with way more experience than I do:
1) always have a plan when you enter a position. What's my max risk (i.e. position size, stop loss)? Where do I take profit? All the decision making is made up front, there will be no second guessing when the time comes to sell.
2) write down your plan, write down the parameters of every trade/investment, and follow them.
3) if you are in a bad physical/mental/spiritual state - don't add new positions, stick to original plan on old ones
4) if you are in a bad state, that takes top priority. Trading/investing activities cease completely until you can get back into a positive frame of reference.
5) if you just realized a big loss and your impulse is "I have to make that money back" - stop trading. Deep breath. The money is gone. Review what went wrong. Create a report to yourself just like you were doing risk review for a corporation to figure out what went wrong and how to avoid it in the future.
6) if you are constantly on edge checking prices or anxious about your position - your position is too big. Scale it down to the point where you can practically forget about it day to day. Size will make you emotional and emotions (fear/greed) will destroy your ability to manage risk.

There's more but those are some of the most salient points to prevent blowing up in the future. Godspeed anon

Thanks buddy but I don't think I got it in me anymore.
You sound like my brother, only reason I haven't killed myself yet is because it would make him snap.
But that line is wearing thin over the years.
Hopefully some newfags will read our stories and realize what not to do.
