>As fears deepened of a broader fallout across the U.S. regional banking sector and beyond, Yellen said she was working to protect depositors but ruled out a bailout. "We want to make sure that the troubles that exist at one bank don't create contagion to others that are sound," Yellen told CBS' "Face the Nation" show. "During the financial crisis, there were investors and owners of systemic large banks that were bailed out ... and the reforms that have been put in place means we are not going to do that again," Yellen added.

They're coping, it's going to be 50. The futures fags assume the fed will give a shit about some west coast tech bank failing when this is exactly the goal of interest rate hikes. Inflation is still hot and jobs continue to exceed projections. hello /smg/

I'm not a super savvy investor but have made some money over the years. I timed DIS and DAL stock at close to the bottom during COVID, and also benefited nicely from the GME squeeze in June of 2021. I then blindly followed a friend's advice and got lucky with TSLA.

I am aware that now is a tumultuous time for the market. I want to invest in US Treasury securities since short-term gains are way up and it's essentially risk-free. I have anywhere from $15k-100k to invest depending on how confident I feel in the investment.

My understanding is short-term bonds (<1y) are currently available at rates above 5%. When I go in Fidelity, I see stuff like pic related for very near-term maturities. However, I think I'd need to buy a larger quantity than I am comfortable with to make money off these offerings.

Can someone guide me on the best way to invest a decent chunk in perhaps a 6-week TBill? I want to put in around $20k and see how it plays out.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Zero chance, in my opinion. SVD was a deflationary primer that JPow sorely needed and the balance of power in the job market should be normalized with SV startups going under. There's a real chance that a .25 cut is on the cards. I'd say that the highest probability is a pause, followed by a low chance of .25.

If anything the fed should be up front that they're not going to change their policy due to overleveraged, no risk protection retards getting themselves blown up, and that will force institutions to wind down their positions in a slightly more orderly manner rather than being forced to sell during margin calls.

A few ideas about how this might proceed:
>Fed pivots looking weak and reactionary
Extremely bearish
>Fed buys bad securities at face value to solve liquidity crisis; exacerbating inflation
Extremely bearish
>Fed/US Gov do nothing; other banks probably also hold awful debt and have no liquidity
Extremely bearish

The only "bull" scenario is the Fed pivots into hyperinflation.

By all metrics, we are in a slightly deflationary regime, which which poses way larger threat to the overall system than an inflationary one. The Fed should
>announce they are pausing rate hikes for 6 months
>this will give all banks and financial institutions enough time to get their shit together
>begin rising rates after that at .50 basis points until inflation is defeated

Even if they don't do this, the biggest issue with the Fed is their lack of communication. This whole "reactive" instead of "proactive" approach is retarded.
Obviously they won't do this. Instead we'll get mixed signals from every Fed member and then the Fed will say "we are monitoring the situation and will react accordingly" and then the bond market will have to predict their next move.
I hate Jerome so much. Dude has the public speaking and communication skills of a fetus.

I never said that we are in a deflationary regime ONLY because of SVD, it's been trending in that direction for months now. Overall liquidity flows shifted back in september 22, and they've been able to hold us in a bit of a goldilocks zone for the first two months of this year, and now we're slowly headed for flash crash/credit event territory.
It's funny, I find myself in a familiar position as back in early 2022. I was arguing that shit was going to down and that the recent liquidity jolt would put and end to the rally leading to an almost year long shitstorm and /smg/ fucking hated me for it.

Not 'fair' for those companies, but their deposits were only insured for 250k and they knew that. Why is 'not fair' applicable to them, and not to employees who get laid off at companies every day? Factories closing and being outsourced?

Yeah. The one thing I don't miss about this is all copies of the movie you wanted to see have been rented out already. Blockbuster had a pleasant smell. It was caramel popcorn and something else. Very distinctive to that specific chain. I wonder if they were piping it in through the hvac on purpose.
