We're going lower than that. The point of equilibrium will be between 1k and 5k and it will continue to chip at the value of BTC until it reaches that. It's not the end of cryptocurrencies, but to be honest I don't know what to think about BTC's future. Right now it's pretty unusable unless you want to move large amounts of money semi-anonymously, and even then with the wild swings and the delays, you have no idea what the value will be while it transits from point A to point B. It had a pioneering role, but it looks to be breaking in a lot of place right now. The community can tape it together, and of course it has the incentive to do so, but it's like putting your finger in a dam that's cracking all over the place. I'm not following BTC too closely, and maybe some of the buzzwords that people throw around will be. what solves all of BTC's problems once they're implemented, but as someone who came late to the game and has no investment in it, and seeing new more functional coins while BTC continues to deteriorate, my confidence is a bit shaken. It went through all this before, and might survive to live through it many more times, what do I know. The future will tell.

You're sure you're looking at it in the same currency? In any case, it's not finance or coinbase that sets the price. And while it will reach a consensus, I guess people who panic at one place may be willing to sell lower than at others without realizing it. If it takes time to move BTC from one place to another and they want to sell NOW, they won't really be shopping around. If I'm mistaken, I'd be glad if another anon could give a better reason.

It's far from impossible that it reaches this point. If we look at it realistically, 66$ was close to the ATH in mid-november when the last crazy was getting started. That's a month and a half ago. Nothing really changed about the product or the market since then except the hype around it. Once the hype dies down, I think it'd be normal to expect it to return to habitual prices, which were around that for LTC.

That's entirely up to you. If you're still ending up with a nice profit, you end up winning. You need to look at what you really gained, not "what could have been". Most HODL memes are from people who don't want others to sell for fear that their own 'investment' goes down. That's why people who say they sold at whatever price get death threats. on reddit.

In my opinion, it's pretty much a coin flip as to what would be the best move here. If you do decide to get out because you still have a healthy profit, I wouldn't do it while everyone is panicking though, even if things were to continue going down in the coming days, it will likely go back up a bit before coming down again, etc. It's your own decision.

I am having a hard time deciding if I should cash out or hold.

I don't really want to cash out on my initial investment because I would rather go all the way or not at all. If I hold and it crashes, then fuck it, I went all the way in and I tried.

But I also think there's about a 60% chance this will all spike up after the holidays. It does always seem to dip at the holidays because people pull out their investment for traveling and gifts and stuff.

Most likely it will go higher than it ever has gone in the first few weeks of the new year... but there is also that 40% chance that it will crash completely.

I invested my money into crypto to pay my high property taxes in Illinois...

I don't know how much you have in this or how much you need the money. Personally I'm just letting everything sit there without any selling orders, but #1 - I don't have anything in BTC and #2 - my whole portfolio is in the low 3 digits. I also bought in hours before the first crash. I think/hope the market will go up again, but no one of us has any control on the evolution of the situation. Like I said, if you sell, you're *probably* better to wait until tomorrow as things should pick up again before possibly continuing to drop tomorrow around this time. It's been like this for the last two days, but who knows. Merry Christmas and good luck.

>> No.5410785

Let's assume you're sure your alts will bounce back after any crash eventually. Then let's consider the short term: What do you think are the chances we won't see a major correction? Compare that to how likely it is that everything just keeps rising. You can keep the majority of your stack on hold since you have faith in it, but for the short term you can make a smart play with a small portion of your stack by evaluating how likely a crash is compared to no crash, and then cashing out an amount that reflects the likelihood of a crash. If you expect a crash, you'll be much happier with some fiat laying around so you can buy back cheap.

I would say there is a good chance ETH goes up around the 1k mark, or even exceeds it in the near future.

I even think there is a chance ETH will flip with BTC in the future as well. ETH could make some insane run up to 5k-10k or something like that.

>>5410760
Ah okay. I put in about $800 and I hit the 3k mark a few days ago, now my portfolio is at 2.2k if I cash out right now.

I probably should cash out my initial investment just to be smart, but I won't be able to hit my goal of 5k for my property taxes this year if I pull it out.

I guess I'll just HODL and hope for the best.
