It's called managerialism. Of course, you can call it whatever you like, but Burnham's argument holds incredibly well. He argues that a transition has occured early in the 20th century that transitioned modern societies from capitalist to managerial and that this transition was much like the transition from feudalism to capitalism.

Capitalism = ownership of means of production by the capitalist class, i.e. investors who use their capital to invest in a productive business and extract the profit. This is not what we have today because even thought there are such things as stocks and ownership of companies, it's incredibly diluted because of all the regular joes who own stocks through various funds. They own these stocks, but have no control over the respective companies. Managers do.
