Okay, I don't know if this is actually incest since it wasn't something actually sexual in the technical sense but here goes.
When I was little my mom used to put a buttplug in me (which she called a poop plug) and I'd wear it all the time. I was told only to take it out to poop, wipe my ***, then put it back in.
I was really young so I thought this was just something everybody did but one time at school I dropped it when I flushed the toilet and it ended up getting flushed. So when I went back to class I told my teacher that my poop plug got flushed down the toilet. She had no idea what I was talking about so she sent me to the school nurse.
Well after trying to explain what a poop plug was for 15 minutes the school calls the police. The police ask me all these questions and at first I'm scared because I think I'm in trouble for losing my poop plug.
Turns out my mom has schizophrenia and was making me wear this ********* so Satan couldn't stick his cock in my pooper and make me gay.

The dollar, just think of it like a promise from the government
But the value of the dollar has to be there to be relevant
The value of the dollar comes from China and Iran
When they put their cash reserves in a U.S. dollar plan

They buy treasury bonds from the Federal Reserve
We say "we owe you extra money cause you gave us some of yours"
That's a big part of the National Debt
All the interest that we haven't paid to China quite yet

And a hundred other countries 'cause we're such a good investment
The whole world gives us money we say "Hey we'll pay you interest!"
This is how money is created from air
Bank bailouts, federal budgets Money isn't really there

I'm looking at this HIFS shit after the 20+ shill posts last thread, and I just don't see the appeal.

They've got a decent history of performance, but as it stands they're expensive relative to tangible book value. That means it's not a value play, but a growth play. When you buy a bank, you're acquiring a piece of that profit stream between deposits and loans. With Hingham, you're paying a premium on the belief that they'll continue growing. I haven't looked in depth yetso maybe there's more to this story. Their current dividend yield is weak, although growing.

The first thing I like to do with a bank is check the website. It runs and looks pretty decent given their size - a lot of regional banks cheap out on this.
They have a tiny footprint - only 7 branches mostly in the shitty state of Massachusetts. It's a Boston suburb and they also have a branch in Boston proper and several branches around Cape Cod and one down in DC. You can tell they're appealing to a certain group here. They have their niche. They're not looking to appeal to BIPOCs and get the ECIP money. Most of their branches don't even open on Saturday. I find that surprising - most regional banks gain value from the human factor of their customer relationships.

Their yields are unsurprisingly uncompetitive, but perhaps their customers don't give a shit that t-bills yield 5.3% right now. Actually after today's shitshow I suppose the yields back to 5.1%. Still...
They don't even list their savings account rates. You have to call them.
My fear with regional banks in general is that they've relied on the past decade of ZIRP policy and customer contentedness with getting absolutely nothing on their cash kept in checkings/savings accounts. It doesn't make sense at this point, but as long as the deposits keep flowing then they can maintain profitability even if their current books may need to be marked down internally.

Next up is a quick read through a few annual reports...

Brazil is crazy undervalued in general. Most of South America is.
Particularly oil. Everyone gets scared of shit like PBR, EC, PTAL, VIST, YPF all exporting Brent pricing with massive margins because they think the countries are gonna go full commie.

Meanwhile in the english speaking world: Buyback taxes in US, windfalls threatened, banks won't lend. Windfall tax in England. 75% windfall tax in Ireland. Norway is suing their oil producers for climate change lmao. Their entire wealth comes from oil.
The one country that all the big fund managers seem to love shilling investments in right now is Canada, but if you actually look at their situation: Pipelines cancelled, throughput throttling, $30 WCS discount, constant eco-terrorist attacks from the "first nations". Canadian dollar likely headed into freefall soon as their real estate bubble collapses.

It has no human capital. Everyone is dumb as fuck, intelligence is not valued by most. Anyone that is actually intelligent or hard working instantly migrates to the US or Europe.
Everyone is corrupt, from the highest politicians to the lowest policemen.
The entire court system doesn't work. If you have any investment here and somebody fucks you, good luck getting anything done through courts. Lawyers are lousy and don't know shit and just try to scam you out of your money, everything is slow as fuck and most judges are corrupt.

Upon further inspection. I like this idea. I don't think it's amazing, but it's not a bad hold.

They appear to be well managed and have some competitive advantages. While I think the short term prospects are pretty shit for banks in general, looking out 2-3 years they should be fine.
They don't have significant longterm fixed-rate exposure because the vast majority of their loans consist of commercial real estate on 5 year adjustment intervals. They've been leaning heavily towards commercial over single-family mortgages with their recent loans.
1/3rd of their funds come from the FHLB of Boston, with ability to double that. I view this as both a positive and negative, since they're drawing on this much more in 2022 than previous years and it's a more expensive cost of capital so it's hurting their net interest margin. This is borrowed at the fed funds rate.
My main concern is that they've got customers holding $1.3 bil in short term CDs at an average yield of 2.4%. I assume these customers were going after a reasonably competitive rate at their time of purchase, but it can't compete with current t-bills. Outside of CDs, their other deposits actually shrunk by 7% year over year.

>Some prevention techniques apply to individual banks, independently of the rest of the economy.
>Banks often project an appearance of stability, with solid architecture and conservative dress.[22]
>A bank may try to hide information that might spark a run. For example, in the days before deposit insurance, it made sense for a bank to have a large lobby and fast service, to prevent the formation of a line of depositors extending out into the street which might cause passers-by to infer a bank run.[1]
>A bank may try to slow down the bank run by artificially slowing the process. One technique is to get a large number of friends and relatives of bank employees to stand in line and make many small, slow transactions.[22]
>Scheduling prominent deliveries of cash can convince participants in a bank run that there is no need to withdraw deposits hastily.[22]
>Banks can encourage customers to make term deposits that cannot be withdrawn on demand. If term deposits form a high enough percentage of a bank's liabilities its vulnerability to bank runs will be reduced considerably. The drawback is that banks have to pay a higher interest rate on term deposits.
>A bank can temporarily suspend withdrawals to stop a run; this is called suspension of convertibility. In many cases the threat of suspension prevents the run, which means the threat need not be carried out.[1]

Not all banks are at risk of failure. But they do have to contend with liquidity leaving their deposits to go to money markets and having to increase their incentives to deposit with them. SVB had low incentives to deposit there, instead relying on tech trannies to get capital from them and as a condition they deposit there. When startups slowed their core business revenue shrank so now their yield of bonds are still ones bought from QE times and they got fucked from a cash crunch as people ran it. Other banks have more diverse revenue streams to not have to take to book and realize 25% losses on treasuries.
