KRE -8.11% on the day. This does NOT happen frequently.

Each of the pink circles are highlighting the times it has happened. Those dates should look familiar. When we see this type of volatility in the financials, the fed came in not to long after.

Will this time be different?

On one hand these banks are paying 0% on deposits while t-bills yield 5%.
On the other hand, they're unsurprisingly seeing some deposits pulled as the more financially aware savers shift their money into t-bills and competitive money market accounts themselves.
Then there's the inverted yield curve, and the fact that most of these banks have heavy exposure to legacy loans at the lower fixed rates from the QE times.

In the end I decided it was too hard to decide. Glad I stayed away.

So what is your answer?
Invest into the stock market, which is also pegged to the Dollar, so you lose more in addition to inflation?
Buy Gold or Silver? Pay more than 20% in premium to buy/sell physical Gold, then it drops in price AND its still pegged to the dollar so you are still suffering the same from the inflation.
The only way holding cash is the losing play is if there is hyperinflation and your money becomes completely worthless, which is probably the least likely situation.

That is not what I'm saying. If you have 100k in stocks it's still 100k in USD, you are still experiencing the same inflation that you would if you had the 100k burrowed in your garden. Except now you are losing money additionally to the inflation.

People that don’t understand options or volatility writing articles about both makes me irrationally upset.

They aren’t betting VIX will close over 150 at that time they are betting it will spike between now and then. If you buy a waaaay out of the money option for a ten cents and it goes to fifteen you have made 50% return before fees. It’s a volatility and gamma play. Nobody thinks the VIX is going anywhere near 150 ever. That’s retarded.

In particular, if I was long say, 10 shares of SPY, then my strategy called for me to sell 5 of them, I'm having a hard time trying to account for whether that would partially close out my open trade, or be counted as a new trade. I think it's so it can calculate per-trade metrics like drawdown, but it's a fucking weird way to do it

If it's Worse than 2008? All bets are off, sure. But you can read up what happened to Lehman:
>Lehman’s bankruptcy caused minimal disruptions to most customers of its broker dealer, Lehman Brothers Inc. (LBI). One reason is that, by law, customer assets and Lehman’s own assets were segregated. Also, perhaps because the bankruptcy was to some extent foreseen, a large number of customer accounts transferred out before LBI’s default. The table below shows that free credit balances (which are similar to bank deposits) in LBI customer accounts declined more than 60 percent in dollar terms between May 2008 and September 19, 2008 (the date that LBI filed for bankruptcy). The number of items (a proxy for the number of accounts) declined over 20 percent.

It was only really slow/retarded institutional level customers that suffered major inconvenience.

At the peak, I think China had something like 47% control of validation nodes, if they hit 51% (or colluded with foreign entities) they could basically fork the ledger and write a new canonical ledger. Not great.
It's hard to buy more coins with money since regulations hit. CEXes are safer, of course, but need KYC, and it leaves a paper trail.

>Stablecoins
These are still risky. Look at how easily FTX crumbled when auditing came into play. Several stablecoins still have not been fully audited with proven backing
I'd even argue that POW is better economically, since it drives power consumption, therefore oil/gas/coal/nuclear prices

Nah, the federal government might be fucked up but many states are still functioning. One perk of separation of powers is that shocks can be absorbed and the entire system isn’t dependent on a few actors. Texas and Florida are running budget surpluses with plenty of hard goods to back it up. The Soviet Union was a paper tiger in ever sense of the meaning. The US could fragment, but North America at large isn’t done yet.
