>What inspired some of these experiments were some of our clients coming to us and saying we want to be able to access some of these new tokenized asset platforms, but equally for us as an established player having to integrate with them all individually is quite inefficient and because they are relatively new we don’t know which ones are going to be the ones which will predominate. So there is an opportunity cost issue there so actually what those participants came to us to say was can you Swift act as a single window to those platforms as we access you today for traditional securities

Swifts adoption of chainlink wouldn't even effect the price to a point anyone would care even if they fully adopted it as a standard. Also, ISO20022 has nothing to do with chainlink, it's just a messaging standard. The tech is cool, but the price of a cup of coffee meme isn't a meme. It is literally designed to be a low price no matter how many link tokens are in circulation so node providers can hedge against risk of staking them. The Chainlink whitepaper reads like what Do Knon wanted to do with Terra Luna, its cool tech but the token is never going to some insane 3 figure price. I do think it can hit its ATH with all the misguided hype, so call me a fudder all you want but I am not advocating you to sell, just be realistic.

>The irony is that Link would succeed even without Swift
Swift is the key to actual adoption of crypto in the real world. Sure link would succeed without them but it would take a lot longer. Swift integrating CCIP would be the first instance of a finacial institution officially adopting crypto and not just testing/experimenting/researching it. This is what everyone has been waiting for, from mEthheads to xrpniggers to btcmaxis. It would be remembered as the single most important event in crypto history (besides btc creation).

It’s not far off it’s launching this year. Your 5-6 year timeframe is when CCIP will eventually eat all of swifts legacy messaging services and swift is left as a managed services provider for banks around CCIP and DLT technologies

individually hooks are very small and light. However, you are able to combine them to create complicated instructions.
>the cost of embedding them
no idea what you mean by this but if youre talking about an actual dollar cost, everything on the XRPL is dirt cheap to do, so any price will be negligible, remember too, using a smart contact on any EVM chain has a high price currently. Take a look at this
https://dev.to/wietse/hooked-3-tech-preview-release-play-with-smart-contracts-on-the-xrp-ledger-2076
Basically, there is going to be a giant library of hooks that you will be able to chain together, think legos, to create whatever it is you want. Itll open the doors for regular users to be able to "program" their own wallets into things that resemble smart contracts (think account abstraction similar to what FTM is doing). When hooks arrive its going to open a ton of doors for defi as every day users will have similar powers as people who can code (at least on the XRPL)

>> No.53942463

First, hooks are not smart contacts, they are a database of simple codes that can be strung together to enact a more complicated task. I.e. WHEN a txn over X $ amount comes in AND it comes from YY wallet do XYZ (simple example buy the link I gave gives you the list of commands that can be used). Its smart contract functionality, not smart contracts. Second, the XRPL has 100% uptime since its inception, its one of the things that makes the XRPL unique. Its no secret that ripple built the XRPL with banks in mind, they wanted bank adoption from the outset, anything less than 100% uptime is not sufficient for banks.

>> No.53942495

>>53942463
You guys should really look into hooks and what they offer. Its such a crazy offering to bring to the table. If you ever played WOW, or some other MMO, think macros. Thats the best comparison that I can think of. Instead of the code being written (and that being the smart contact). Hooks will be simple commands that then call up the code from the background to be used.

The clock struck midnight and a chill wind blew through the dingy back room of the seedy casino. The degenerate gambler, known around town only as The Rabbit had been spending his last few pennies on poker chips and roulette wheels. But tonight, he had stumbled upon something far more valuable - a mysterious token, shaped like a red rabbit. He quickly realized that this was no ordinary object - it had the potential to increase its value 100 times over in a matter of days, if he played his cards right. With a maniacal grin and a gleam in his eye, The Rabbit tucked the token away and headed out into the night, determined to make a fortune before anyone else caught wind of his lucky discovery. Little did he know that 4chan was already abuzz with whispers of the Red Rabbit and its magical powers.
