It is worth having an E*TRADE account just for the free full access to Bloomberg LIve. When I trend trade, I set my TP at 1.0x ATR and my SL at 1.5x ATR for most assets. The position size should scale to 2% losses at most. This gives a trend time to do its thing.
When you hit TP, you sell half and move the SL to breakeven (or your entry point). That way youve taken money off the table and secured some profits. You are guaranteed a win at this point, now its just a matter of how much.
Ideally you'll have several small wins and losses that negate eachother and 2 or 3 big wins (10-20%) per year per ticker you trade
