Those companies give massive bonuses and sabbaticals. I've met several people (all women ironically) that were on sabbatical from JPM, Barclays, one of other City of London banks who were waiting for their March bonuses to quit anyway.

So it makes sense. It's.more about revoking any employee benefits or even requiring compensation from shitty employees like the assholes I've met gaming banks.

Doesn't surpise me they've done this. Yes we act like are capitalistic overlords, so?

The world is ran by libertarians and neoliberals who'll tell you to pull yourself up by your bootstraps and stop eating takeaway every week so no, UBI will not be happening and the people who happened to garner all the wealth in the world by sheer luck will live in their 50 million dollar homes while you'll be paying 3000 dollars a month for rent working 2 jobs and never have the spare time to ensure every last bit of productivity is squeezed out of your existence so the people at top can afford one more ferrari and you won't ever have the time or energy to revolt at them. You'll literally be just like the chinese sweatshop workers you've heard of. Why don't they do anything about their situation? It's because they can't. The wealthy are completely disconnected from the rest of society and the police and military that work for them are paid more than the average person they're scolding to ensure the wealthy are kept safe. You had you last chance to flip things over during the 20th century when socialism took root but the world chose to rip out those roots and here's the aftermath. But hey, at least capitalism breeds innovation or something (you'll still be defending the system after they've turned you into a hamster in a wheel)

Absolute delusion. The vast majority of these "tech" companies (really scam Zombie companies) out of Silicon Valley with shit revenue, high debt and growing expenses have only came into existence within the last 10 years only and solely due to the cheap liquidity provided by the Fed's QE experiment of the past decade. A reversion to the mean is overdue from this experiment in the 2010's.
Now that liquidity is no longer cheap and is drying up, these zombie companies who would have never existed in a normal economy are going to implode and take all their venture capital firms and bank shareholders down with them. FTX was just a taste of things to come in this high interest rate environment- there are dozens if not hundreds of unprofitable, overleveraged, scam zombie companies in the tech sector just like this- hiding in the shadows, knowing their end is drawing near.

Capitalism ironically works great as long as the government functions correctly. The problem begins when political office becomes a career; the people making the decisions never have to live under the rules theyve created. Soon after, companies grow large enough to afford "donations" that magically outweigh the greater good of the people. Amongst other things, once large companies are allowed shitty practices for profit, the others large and small have to follow suit to stay competitive. It wrecks the whole chain top to bottom.

When you can answer how it is that literally 90%+ of politicians have millions, and multiple homes in different states when the pay at the top of the ladder in senate and Congress is 170k, you'll be close to the answer of what went wrong.

Capitalism hasn't failed. The government that's supposed to keep it honest has failed. It thrives for the greater good of the country when 'by the people, for the people" is upheld.

>But just admit you have no loyalty, ideals, duty, conviction, or regard for others.
I will freely admit I have no loyalty to a fucking corporation, which exists to make money. You are out of your mind if you think I don't care about my friends and family, i. e. the things that matter, boomoid.

this seems like a fair system. A company gives me 3 months notice before firing me, I give them 3 months notice before I quit.

>Millennials stop working
I'm on your side of the economic argument, I certainly would not work in such an unfair, exploitative, and predatory environment.

But we're not talking about "stop working." We're talking about "quitting." There's a big difference.

Hidden benefit of job hopping - it gives you diverse set of skills in different industries, project experience, etc and also keeps you fresh to what employers are looking for. I know several boomers who were skull fucked in 2008 recession because they lost the job they’ve had for 18 years at some random company and absolutely had no way to get a comparable job because they were only taught to do one thing.

It’s like if you had a man become single after an 18 year relationship compared to someone who dates around. Imagine how fucked that boomer would be in the age of dating apps, dealing with sloots, ghosting, etc

Boomers view losing a job as equivalent to a family member dying, it’s pathetic lmao. Millennials lose a job and it’s just a paid vacation

exactly. in my cunt during the coof troubles, shitloads of people got laid off, heaps of boomers. For months there was news articles and radio segments with complaining boomers 'i can't get a job' blaming it on ageism, discrimination etc. 'i've applied for 40 jobs and not one has called back' 'sometimes they don't even let you know you haven't got the job'.

I was told I wasn't ambitious enough at the 11 dollar an hour machine shop I worked at, put me on 12 hour shifts, I stood in one place all day checking parts that robots made just to see 1 thing was done right, standing on concrete

Literally the most monotonous thing they moved me to, then when supervisor walked by I told him I'm putting in 2 weeks, never came back again

I worked there a year before that

Anon just because some companies are useless doesn't mean tech is just going to up and disappear

I mean really, think about it dude. You think we're just going to stop the tech industry? Now that our lives literally revolve around it? The tech industry will evolve to be like healthcare, a requirement to society as the framework of our modern world is built upon it. Every cycle or so the fat will be trimmed and the tech companies that actually provide a product that millions actually use (not botfarm numbers) will weather the storm while trendy brands bite the dust. I'm not even a tech worker, but this idea that the framework of our society is just going to cease to exist or suddenly have a significant decrease in demand is just nonsense. It's also not like these companies are just gonna sit around and twiddle their dicks for the next x amount of years while we deal with this. They will look for new things to break into and new departments will open, just on a more conservative scale instead of having a mass hiring event.

Lmao yea saw and heard this firsthand myself. Crying about how they applied for soooo many jobs aka half ass online applications, and are really trying but muh ageism. It’s because if you spent your entire career in 1 or 2 roles doing something super specific in a singular industry and you lose your job then you really will only be a good fit for a tiny handful of jobs out there.

Good luck boomers

Hmm. That helps me understand. I'm not reading the article because I'm not that engaged, but I work for a large bank and I'm getting paid parental leave soon.
I wonder, if you got several months off for parental leave and then quit would you owe this company backpay because you retroactively don't have that leave?
Like how if I go into annual leave debt and then quit, I owe them money.
