I read an article yesterday where someone found a letter in a chimney.
It was placed in 1979, and in the letter it said that they were earning £0.65 an hour, had just bought the house with a £300 deposit, and that the total value was around £3000.
So mathematically we can conclude it would have taken this boomer 4615 working hours to completely pay off their house and 461 hours to save for a deposit and start building equity, disregarding both pay increases or interest or other expenses. The same house is now worth £300 000, and the average pay is around £11.50 an hour.

This gives us 26 086 working hours to afford the same house today, let me repeat over TWENTY SIX FUCKING THOUSAND.
Saving up for a similar 10% deposit of £30 000 requires 2608 hours, or just as much work to only save for a 1/10 deposit, as the boomer had to work to afford 1/2 of the whole thing
