They were. Irony is that every time they have done this in the past, they have also always ended up in economic turmoil like they are right now. To add to this, their housing market is currently undergoing their own 2008 where boomers overleveraged themselves thinking they were contestants in Dragon's Den or some such shit and are now defaulting on their loans (UK only has 2 or 5 year fixed terms on rates unlike the US where you can lock in a rate for 30 years and then refinance for a better rate). The UK is going to be the hardest hit zone in this downturn when it is all said and done. Not to mention that they're still in a energy crisis because they nationalized basically every fucking energy market and there is zero competition. Stupid island monkeys.

Anyway, they're an interesting case study. I've been monitoring them closely since Brexit.

It once ruled the world because they had the largest and most powerful navy, as well as some three generation squeeze on keeping the working class men at their task regardless of where they chose to go. Ultimately it seems like World War Two broke the back of their economy and that, in addition to losing Singapore, Brunei, India etc. left them pretty well fucked. Being zerg rushed by subcontinental subhumans it's just the birds coming home to roost, old boy.
What makes me sad is that we'll probably see the same fucking thing happen to us within our lifetimes...

I'm sure that's what is was. I was (I think) watching during the last couple threads ever.
>Thread is lovely
>I had just downloaded Robinhood a couple weeks ago, trying to learn the market from my good 4chan friends
>I'd just dumped my MVIS bags for a profit
>Holding some other shit that got delisted (I still have the dead shares sitting in the brokerage with a big "UNTRADEABLE" tag, kek)
>Life is good, I've never had more fun.
>Suddenly fag appears in /ptg/
>"Hey guys, these tickers are so low volume that we could move them intentionally if we all work together"
>Everyone informs him that this is genuinely illegal glowie SEC bait, fuck off and stop posting
>Guy keeps fedposting "No guys I swear it's a good idea"
>Jannies ban him
>He resets his router, keeps popping up.
>Thread disappears
>Final attempts to remake thread last for about 20-30 posts each before the fag returns again
>Jannies keep removing threads because this guy won't stop encouraging illegal shit
>/ptg/ is over
I didn't know if he was just an autist or some kind of federal agent trying to entrap people. At the time it freaked me out since I was so new to the market, I didn't buy any penny stocks for a long time after fag showed up because the whole thing scared baby-trader me. Wish the jannies had been able to save the general but that one fucker wouldn't behave.

Target Earnings were ok today. Clearly retail has decreased from the free money frenzy of 2020-2022.
But sales are steady, proven by a wholesale stock decline of .4% with a corresponding retail increase of only .2%. And before you flip about the increase in stock, please recall that "just in time" is no longer acceptable modeling for industry or sales. Larger supply storage is a minimal safety net for disruption. Better to pay to place traps and some basic climate control and rotate some goods in a steel-pole warehouse, than have no supply at all because the Chinese prime minister stubbed his toe.

Reminder that international bankers did 9/11 at about halfway through the dotcom bubble burst and conveniently shrugged off the "missing trillions", indices had a relief rally but kept sinking for another year and half. They literally demo'd the tallest skyscrapers in the western hemisphere at the time and launched a low altitude cruise missile into the highest security airspace in the world at the time just for exit liquidity and that was an itty bitty bubble. Now look at coronavirus printer. They did a liquidity pump on top of historys longest low interest decade pump. If we cannot break ATH by 2030 we will have the biggest low volume exit sell that will be like a 2-3x bobo wick of 1930.

being early means that you're wrong too. You see, if stock market goes up 80% in the next 5 years and then we have a 30% crash that those people predicted, you would still be at loss if you didn't buy today. Time in the market > timing the market (as long as you're not playing with money that you need shortterm for other expenses).

I'd rather put that money into other companies that don't have problems with:
- energy
- thieves
- workforce that wants constant pay rises despite making tons of money compared to their peers
- government that thinks it's unjust that company pays high dividends and CEO compensations despite doing jack shit to address issues mentioned earlier.

I'm basically done with investing in SA and will put this money into other companies that have less risks connected with them.

And without a "shock" to the system, which would eventually be mostly retraced we won't be visiting this level for a long time.

Yes, I agree with that overall, but one should always be allowing their long term vision to shape their strategies in some meaningful way, which doesn't have to be compete long term withdrawal from participation. Even Buffett just did a significant moving of holdings from stocks to cash, but didn't pull out altogether.

Problem with PGMs is that demand is likely to drop if adoption of EVs continues. Russia PGM exports could boost the price, but who knows if it is even being considered.
I was counting on acquisitions too, Freeman has interesting plans for diversifying into EV metals. The problem with acquisitions is that profitable operations are not put on sale usually. In 2021 Freeman had to pull out of a deal at last moment, probably because he found some skeletons in a closet. Since then no other alternative was announced.
I understand why you would want to stay though, it has potential for a nice bounce back on any good news. Like, it's hard to imagine situation getting worse.

Will he tell you in a letter when he is going to start using this cash to buy stocks again? Timing to time the market is 2 step process which involces buying back at lower price than you sold. Many people miss the bottom because they hope for market to go down even lower and they get priced out.

I'm taking a peek at Fidelity. I won't be making any moves presently, as it can tie up cash for days in transfers and I've got everything on the ready, but it might wind up being where I settle in for the longer term as I see that they also feature fractional shares (along with other apparent strengths aplenty). I'm trying to make the absolute most of not very much.
