I don't know what to do /biz/.
>Recent German graduate
>graduated with 2.1, and 1.3 in my thesis on english
>Nobody wants me or jobs are free where I do something outside of my profession, which is off the table for me
>Been programmer for 14 years
>Left hand is beginning to get numb
>Might lose feeling completely

I'm afraid I will lose my feeling on my left hand, which is my primary tool and I have no idea what to do, besides killing myself at one point (realistically speaking, I'd like to restart the game at that point).

Besides, I'm okayish at Stable Diffusion, Python and politics, but nothing of it is made for profits, besides Stable Diffusion sorta.
I'll try to create an E-Commerce shop for AI Art, since I have no other choice.
Also thought about going into Copywriting (there's a great online course for that), since simple words can be typed by Text-to-speech.
But anything that includes efficient keyboard typing is off the table.

I've no idea what to do.
Focus on Copywriting and being a freelancer or just maintain my e-commerce shop, that still does not exist yet, because the server implementation of stable diffusion is a cancerous piece of shit.

If none of this works, I'll probably kill myself, because not even cryptos seem to moon and I'll live off of my investments for the next years, until I'll get broke af

Stretch and wear braces. That easy. Also stop using your phone. Install Digital Detox and use it only when necessary. Large smartphones will absolutely fuck you up and give you write/elbow/nerve issues.

LOL this has to be a fucking larp. You make it sound like you're a pianist or something... you can type with one hand you tard, how is this going to limit your career potential? All I hear about all day is WFH software devs bragging about how they work 1 hour a day. You're telling me you can't do your work in a day 1 handed?

I usually need 2 hands to write code efficiently and if the left hand gets numb completely, I won't be able to do that, since I gotta also type a lot of special characters quickly.
Also, 1 hour work a day is not acceptable in the workforce, where I've been working in, so I should at least do 5 hours

>>53873443
I'm right handed and I think I'll try it out and see if that works.
Gotta get a new desk for it, since my desk is way too low and my hand inclines downwards, when typing

>>53873477
checked and gonna ask my doc tomorrow what the issue is.
Although I'm afraid that I'll wake up at one point, my whole hand is gonna be numb, I won't be able to do anything at all and have to search for a new job, when I'm around 40 and gonna be completely wrecked since my cognitive capabilities for learning a new skill have declined already

Copy writing is about to get automated through chatgpt. Go ahead and try it though.
I can't believe you don't just create your own coin, your own apps, your own games all the time. You're a programmer, the barriers to creating a business are the lowest for you

it's not perfect, but neither is typing. if this was a video of a programmer writing the same code by hand it would contain different errors but it probably wouldn't be much faster. typing speed isn't the bottleneck anyway, it's finding the correct place to enter the new functionality. work with what you have, you should know this as a programmer

this OP, carpal tunnel and nerve damage is no joke, you need to take this seriously ASAP.

i am a software engineer and started getting carpal tunnel in both hands in my last year of college. i always typed on a laptop with bad hand posture. i experienced the same numbness, and occasional tingling and difficulty opening and closing my hands.

you can fix it, but it will take time. first of all, get an ergonomic split keyboard and make sure your desk and chair are ergonomic. for keyboard i have a microsoft natural 4000, but anything with each hand's keys at an angle like that will be good enough. buy a couple wrist braces like pic related (you can get them cheap online) and wear them for at least 6 hours a day.

also, go on youtube and look up "carpal tunnel stretches", those helped me a lot.

i was in your exact position a few years ago and thought that i wouldn't be able to continue my career. however, it is reversible if you take care of your wrists. it took me about 8 months to get back to normal. you can do it, but you need to do your stretches and wear your braces every day, and get a good keyboard asap.

I'm currently working on my own site/app for AI Art that also contains a coin-feature. Although this is a hell of a job, since the design of the perfect tokenomics is a pain in the ass as a non-mathematician.
And every little feature, the art generation, GPU management, API & blockchain implementation has to work first, before going online.
Which again, stays unprofitable, until everything's done

>>53874214
thanks anon, bought that brace and gonna search for a propper desk & keyboard.
gonna lookup some sort of cushion for my keyboard tho, as it's op af and I would like to keep it

i would strongly suggest you try out a split keyboard for a while. for me personally, it was one of the most important factors in fixing my carpal tunnel issues because it let me keep my wrists straight while typing.

i'm not sure how expensive keyboards are in germany, but here's one on amazon that's similar to mine: https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-LXM-00001-Ergonomic-Keyboard/dp/B07Y414QXJ/

I was in that same situation and am a lot older than you. I have been using computers since they first came were available for home use. My hands are fucked but I keep them going by doing a couple things. Firstly you need to get some more ergonomic setting for your workspace. Ive got a beanbag keyboard wrist rest and a mouse rest that slides around with your wrist. Both things help immensely. Secondly get yourself some of the arthritis compresson gloves and wear them when youre working on the computer. It makes you look like the fat WoW player from south park but its a small price to pay for functioning hands. And lastly start exercising or someting. I took up lifting and it helped a lot. The first couple weeks of lifting my hands would be fucked, swollen afterwards but now they are fine. I think all the gripping has helped strengthen whatever ligaments/tendons/muscles were going bad.

Anyways good luck I know what a pain it can be for your hands to start shitting out. Its very hard for me to do tiny tasks like sewing a tear in something now. just using something so little is hard.

>> No.53875756

>>53874646
They're cheap af for 40€ only
Gonna buy myself one today
Also, a new desk is ordered as well, that's much spacier and higher overall.

>>53874997
Has it been a steady decline or did it happen abruptly?
And how did you handle your work with that?
Gonna try out those gloves as well on a daily basis, after I fixed the feeling with that carpal tunnel stretch from the anon above

All told, I gotta somehow create a business where I work less on my keyboard nonetheless, since my hands are starting to fuck up that early, fml
As it's only downhill from now on I suppose, even if it'll recover temporarily

I dont even know the cause of my problem. it could be carpal tunnel or just RSI. could even be arthritis for all I know since that runs in my family. it started early and was a decline. but they are better now than they were years ago due to me finding all those methods that worked for me. obviously everyones body is different so I can only tell you what helped me.

get a keyboard the width of one hand, and then learn to type using one hand. I started learning to type while masturbating and now I'm really fast.

I just typed this sentence using one hand within 10 seconds flat. I am going to hell.
