What they never really explain because it would hurt their argument is that gold and silver are both long-term plays
You won't make money buying them now, they're basically insurance against a retarded central bank aka a central bank.
That said, you should definitely own some of both. The silver thesis is that once fiat collapses (and it will), people will be forced to re-adopt silver as currency.
Right now the silver supply seems fuckhueg because no one has really taken the idea of it being money seriously but when that day comes the supply will vanish instantly.
Don't go crazy, just build a little stack of like 100oz, that will only cost like $3000 which is not much for many anons here.
I'm not expecting my stack to matter for a few years, but I don't want to be without insurance the day SHTF.
Also there's the idea that countries with collapsing economies and monetary systems will actually start adopting silver early and drain the supply further. It may only become noticeable very late in the West, so there's that added event risk.

Hello my favorite /smg/ posters, for once I will step out of the shadows, stop lurking, to ask your takes on something:

If I want monthly cash flow is property the smartest thing I can buy?

I use E-Trade. Nice and easy. Can transfer cash and use it immediately without having to wait for it to settle (based on portfolio size). Ex: I transfer 5000, it says "go ahead invest it" even though its not settled. Exploiting this further, friday is kinda holding period. Nothing happens over the weekend. So I transfer money friday and use it, even though I know full well the cash to cover it is not in the bank yet. I get cash Saturday and deposit it. By time monday rolls around and E-Trade sucks the money from my account hey all is good. Also applies when payday rolls near. Ex, I don't get paid till 15 and 30th (or 28th depending). Can bag stocks a day before and not worry about any shortfalls.

assuming that continues to be possible, so "going to work" isn't a problem, where is a good place to live? ideally with low cost of living and mostly white people. im not religious but i'll go to church for the community idgaf. i've always dreamed of more or less "retiring" in one of those small midwest towns in some flyover state that every kid wants to get out of to go to new york or california. im an introvert that just wants to retire early and play vidya and vape weed and make my own music for fun for the rest of my life tbhwy.

God, I love AI so much. Even with how wacky it can be right now, just the sheer fact that you can make images and stores and song lyrics and spreadsheets and code and all sorts of shit, even if it's not perfect, it's basically sci-fi shit to me at this point. I never thought it'd be this easy to make content for myself. I really really need to figure out how to make a youtube channel or something and use it to make content to make money, but I have no idea where to start. Yet, at the same time, I realize that I could just ask the AI where I should start and it could probably tell me lol. What a fucking time to be alive.

I'm doing my best but I really need to learn the syntax more of this shit so I can give better instructions.

Thats fine and I hope you get that. Probably wyoming or other midwest states like missouri or arkanas depending on what climate you like. But ultimately you probably wont like midwes towns. I am an introvert too and after living there a while it just becomes depressing. Its not nice, its all broken down and miserable. You arent going to know your neighbors who live miles away and there wont be a cute community. If anything id say smaller cities like topeka or sioux falls in midwest areas is what you want. Enough stuff to still do stuff and not get bored.

To me, it feels as coherent as what your brain produces when you're sleeping. It has logic and rules, but it's own perception about how these things play together. Like I've had dreams where I get into a vehicle and it just goes all over the road in a way that's not physically possible, and some of the AI renditions feel the same way, if that makes sense.

As far as the future goes, I imagine that storage facilities would be important. I recently learned that metaverse shit isn't just limited to Faceberg/META, but a general term for like, any digital space (think of it as like web 4.0 I guess). Anyways, if you have billions of users, you need gigabytes of storage for each person, in terms of digital assets (like images, video etc), as well as trained AI models per user. It's a slow, long term play, but I think data center REITs would do very well over the next 10-20 years. Not in an explosive upside way, but I think they'll have good risk-adjusted returns and be worth having some exposure to in the "stable but risk on" part of your portfolio.

Currently, stuff like Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, IBM, Oracle, Alibaba(?) and a few others provide this sort of stuff... there's also some crypto shit like Filecoin that interact with that sort of thing. I wouldn't necessarily jump into those tech stocks or semiconductors or crypto, since they're not pure plays.

You can buy options if you know what you're doing. Simply buying them as delta/leverage isn't always a good move, since it depends on many things... however deep itm leaps are usually a fair play if you need the leverage on a position, though liquidity is always a concern.

Picrel is a SPY spread I have right now, as a form of insurance against tail risk. Funny line goes up and I win, funny line goes down and I win. It's long vega, and against a crash I realistically have a 4:1 payout or so (though it could be as much as a 20x if it's 1930s bad). It's gained or lost $20 on average and is pretty near my cost basis after a month or two. I think I'm gonna roll it after the next quad witching.

In my system, it risks a 2% loss per trade at most. More volatile tickers get smaller positions and less volatile get more, to match this risk profile. But thats the problem - if its less volatile, you need much more capital, eg a position in SPY might have $12000, while biotech shitco might have $500 under the same risk model.
So in this sense, options are a more efficient use of capital for me since I can have more active trades up

Still looking for suggestions on the mumu version for green days. I'll do it myself eventually but I'm just curious for input. It's so easy to use this thing to generate content, I love it. Any dumb fucking idea and you've got a full movie script in a minute.

I'd pitch the sequel as Yellen realizing she needs those capital gains taxes before the US goes bankrupt. Working with Mumu she brings back the corruption and teams up with /smg/ to pump the market.

The climactic fight is against Jerome and Bobo, on top of the Eccles building, over control of the QE money printer.

I'll see what I can do with that. I'll post something in a future thread today. You'll know it's me because I tell people to buy AMD because AI is the future.

>surprised more of you didn't react to that in all honesty
it's because no one cares about something some chat AI is putting out
it's not OC, it's lazy, it's uncreative - any one of us can go to chat GPT and type in a prompt similar to yours and then post it here. who gives a shit - it's like linking your google search results
come up with original content of your own - come up with original theses in the market or memes
posting a screenshot of AI is gay as fuck

I've got a dream; to have a shat pot of green awaiting for me in 13 years time when I retire. With the thing being I won't have to touch the majority of it at all unless very bad things happen. My everyday expenses will be covered by my pension. So why have the green? Simple, cause I can. Cause just knowing it's there is relaxing. Cause knowing that yes I own "insert share number here" of so and so company is a nice feeling. My only regret is I won't have enough to actually swim in it but alas guess you can't have everything. (you know, large ass swimming pool full of green kinda like that Scrooge McDuck from Ducktails does with his coins in the vault)

>yearly debt payments
Try that one. The Us debt is the highest ever and needs to be addressed but its manageable.

Like with inflation, yearly numbers cover up the worrying changes. Market crash last year plus layoffs/recession and crab market this year means revenue is fucked.

If the layoffs/recession and crab market don't kill inflation, high Fed rates will remain and we get debt that's refinancing at 5 and 6%. If they do, the system is collapsing badly enough that we'll take on trillions more in emergency debt.

Somewhat. Inflation also boosts gov revenue amounts vs ddebt. The layoffs arent nearly going to impact revenue in any meaningful way. Plus they could also get around to raising corporate debt and capital gains to cover that shortage if it ever were serious. The system wont collapse as most of the debt is domestically held by other federal agencies anyway.

Yes and current Fed rate hikes reduce inflation. The problem is that amount is "not enough".

>The layoffs arent nearly going to impact revenue in any meaningful way.
Look at previous recessions. A couple fired tech workers destroying Cali's budget surplus is only the beginning.

>Plus they could also get around to raising corporate debt and capital gains to cover that shortage if it ever were serious.
Yes, raise the tax rates which cause even more companies to go under and people to bail on the markets. This is a good, politically realistic plan with no downsides.

>The system wont collapse as most of the debt is domestically held by other federal agencies anyway.
Are you planning on eliminating social security? Or cancelling its COLA? No, that's politically impossible?

OK, then how are you going to slash medical inflation so Medicare doesn't go under? You can't?

OK, then your only public holder of debt that can just write things off is the Fed. You now need a QE program that doesn't murder the dollar or creating double digit inflation while covering up/defaulting anywhere from 2-10 trillion in deficit spending over the next couple years.

Companies arent going under as it is. Raising the corporate rate wont cause some mass bankruptcies of alphabet, apple and microsoft.

>write things off is the Fed
The amount held by the fed is returned to the treasury though. It doesnt need to be written off at all. I dont really see evidence its going to be some collapse scenario.

This is why I just DCA in to things I like. I don’t even read news or watch tv. I just buy when my stock is red and I feel like it.

Anon, those are not the only employers in the US. Not even close.
