I've been working as a sped para in a behavioral sped program and there's a reckoning coming when it comes to special education. If we're to believe horseshoe theory, the 30-40 year trend of inclusive classrooms for students with severe disabilities will come to an end with enough of these incidents outraging the public. I'm in college to be a teacher while I do this and every single female professor parrots inclusion, but they don't teach and they don't have unions that will push back against the nonsense like teachers do. Hearing about "room clears" when I got my district job blew my mind. Teaching is pretty good actually.
I get so many vacations, my job gets easier the more i do it, people generally leave you be as long as you're doing your jobs and there's no students complaining. I also get to go late and leave early because there are these things called prep hours that i abused the living fuck out of.
Only thing is there's no development at all, you're just teaching the same shit over and over to people who are less knowledgeable than you.
