It's not redundant, at least at the moment. They serve relatively different purposes. ICP is basically a cloud services provider that is more decentralized theoretically than something like AWS but makes a number of tradeoffs to accomplish that, avalanche is a permissionless consensus algorithm platform where dApps can have independent validator sets but still interoperate. ICP is a much more monolithic platform, every subnet is identical in node hardware and there's only a few different node counts possible and they're all very low (7-30 something). Meanwhile Avalanche is very heterogenous in it's validator set which is essentially unlimited in node count and is focused on economic value flow and NFT usecases primarily however someone could build an ICP-esque service on avalanche, but it does not currently exist.
ICP has some fundamental tech limitations that avalanche does not looking at the basic consensus algo level. These limitations ultimately mean that ICP can't handle nearly as much load as a more centralized cloud compute can, and IMO mean that it will never see the sort of adoption shills screech about. Avalanche has a much clearer path forward with it's focus on value transfer, logistics tracking, and gaming applications and by virtue of it's consensus algorithm can outperform any other chain whether it's time to finality, TPS, nakamoto coefficient, permissionless-ness, etc. It's just not a monolithic platform with one singular purpose so there's no one singular purpose. Avalanche provides the most performant consensus algorithm in existence for devs to utilize for any purpose they can imagine, with the benefit that their application can interoperate with every other subnet on avalanche while still remaining performance isolated from other dApps/subnets.
You've already seen major mainstream adoption of Avalanche by firms like Deloitte and tokenized real world assets like the KKR fund and there's absolutely more in the pipeline.

ICP also sold a ton of supply to VCs and insiders, as well as providing a ton of tokens to users just for voting on NNS proposals. VCs/insiders are set to dump still for the next 2+ years so just from that aspect ICP is a sketchy investment at this time.
Avalanche's unlocks are all done with the exception of some tokens given every few months to the foundation to finance community initiatives/incentives. Users have to stake their AVAX to secure the network and the current reward rate for that is ~8-9% for validators.
