Yes, people are just idiots. There is a large segment of the population for whom it is important that they APPEAR to be living the same lifestyle as their friends/family/coworkers, even if they cannot afford it. Whether they can afford it or not does not factor into their decision making. They see someone else with a car, new clothes, a new phone, taking a vacation, etc... and they just decide to get it for themselves too. End of story... The worst part is the people they're mimicking are also probably up to their eyeballs in debt... and that's how the US economy is structured!
For autists like us who don't have friends to mimic or try and impress, this all sounds bizarre, but, it is what it is

I hope it fucking murders all of us.

you keep insisting that there will be a soft landing and that inflation is going down while working in conjunction with labor departments to manipulate data and outright lie on economic strength, you encourage individuals and businesses to continue spending and continue expanding debt, to make the inevitable hard landing less hard
it's like snowboarding, and hitting that point where you know you're going to wipe out, and you accept it and try to fall in a way that minimizes how much you hurt yourself
you try to jawbone inflation down and also jawbone economic strength - the alternative is to remain hawkish in guidance and cause a very hard crash landing; if the hard landing / recession is inevitable, might as well try your best to minimize the damage by trying to stimulate spending by giving dovish & optimistic guidance - you have nothing to lose (other than prolonged stagflation..)

I.e., 4x iFlash, 4x good condition iPod 5.5th gen classics (eBay), and 6x 3000mah batteries. Didn't even buy the SD cards yet, as those will drop in price, but wanted duplicates of all the iPod/iFlash parts before they become too rare to find at a reasonable price.

That right column is are total expenses by category since October 2020, meaning 27.5 months worth. Over that timeframe, that's only $683/month rent, on average. My current monthly expenses, while higher than last year, due to no longer having roommates, still are not bad, comparative to income.

Going to take a full year off, to give my dopamine intake a chance to resume to normal (though that should happen in 6 months), before I smoke again, and only rarely, then.

When has there ever been unexpected financial turmoil in the US? Anyone could have seen the housing bubble (which is far bigger now than it was back then), along with the wage bubble (six figure jobs that are so easy you can do 6 of them full time at home and still work less than people working two normal jobs) and the inflation (trillions created out of thin air in 2020/2021 and now another “infrastructure” bill that nobody knows where the money is actually going). There’s also the lag effect of interest rTe hikes that’s finally coming to a head just this past month (worst earning season performance in over 20 years). It’s all a matter of how long retail can keep buying in until institutional investors dump all they have on them because fuck retail.

What they dumped were a variety of miscellaneous chemicals as well as *vinyl* chloride. PVC is the polymer version of that where a bunch of those get strung together into biiiig molecules.

Big PVC molecules = less reactive and safer. Tiny VC molecules = reactive and very prone to fuck with things like cells. Pic related is the "don't fuck with this" rating diamond for VC.

Comcast, as part of ObamaNet, has a $10 internet program for poorfags. In between jobs a few years ago, I got on food stamps. Food stamps in most states, including the one I was in at the time, have very vague cards, often with no name or expiration date. I used the food stamps card to apply for their "affordable internet" plan a few years ago, and have been on it ever since, and used the same old expired food stamps card (but how can they tell that?), via picture for proof, each renewal period.
