The first one, wealth in an MMORPG doesn't give you at all due to the game design, which, even if it's grindy, is fundamentally there to empower the player. Being a level 1 character with only his default shirt is not the same as being a bum with only the clothes on his back. In the MMORPG, you can rise to level 90, whereas in the real world, being a bum is almost certainly a dead end.
The second one only exists in a faint form in the MMO. Someone in your guild might fawn over you a bit, but anyone who does that too much is probably mentally disturbed. In the real world, people will fawn very much over you because of money.

Its funny but sometimes in games I prefer to be poor cause it is an interesting challenge.
