My wife wants to know what dividend stocks to buy. What should I tell her? Surely there's a safe 10%+ yield out there right?

>inb4 staking
She's not putting this much into crypto
>inb4 JEPI
I know you're getting paid to say this

Wat? 10% dividend is on the high side of risk, like the other anon mentioned RIO is your best bet at the moment but understand that yield is anomalous compared to historical dividends.

Pretty much this. I'm getting 8% on my iron ore pick (TSE:LIF). Also partially owned by rio. For returns as meager as 8% you'd have to be genuinely retarded to resort to crypto. If that's your goal just buy some telecoms and metal stocks ad call it a day.

During a recession dividends are better because growth stagnates. But during normal times if you really want a dividend the better options are the growth/income combos like KO, IBM, PEP, MCD

risk to reward is pretty much a linear sliding scale across the board. the level of risk she will be willing to accept as a woman is low, the gain required to justify any risk at all will be high. she will not find the high gain low risk investment she wants and she will give up and instead defer all thinking to the group consensus of supposed experts, which she doesnt consider her husband to be one of.

basically in the end she'll buy what she's told to buy, the most basic bitch investments possible. and she'll earn less then inflation.

Dividends are a retard trap. Taxed worse than long terms capital gains rates and have less growth upside than other major stock. Dividends frequently spell the end of a corporation's major growth phase and you're missing out on a lot.

The best strategy remains to invest in good ETFs (like VOO/SPY), and just go for a safe withdrawal rate of 3.5%. Long term capital gains rates are low, you still enjoy some dividends, more importantly you capture the growth which will return a lot more.
