I would encourage /smg/ to review last year's Knight Frank wealth report:
https://www.knightfrank.ie/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/The-Knight-Frank-Wealth-Report-2022.pdf
It's a review of the investments, priorities, and concerns of the world's "high net worth" (>$1m) and "ultra-high net worth" (>$30m) individuals. You can find some tidbits in there that should be useful for scoping out potential investment opportunities, for the stock market and otherwise. 2023's edition should come out next month.

SOXS is the answer. Face it. Semiconductors are sand in all but the name. The desire for newer, faster, more is unsustainable. Computers, GPUs, self-driving electric cars, AI enhanced smartphones, medical devices, microcontrollers, networkinging gear, machine learning, surveillance, infrastructure, military, and all that other bullshit that people and the government don't have enough money to buy are not needed. No matter how many cores, how fast or efficient, it won't be enough to convince consumers to upgrade from their 10-year-old i5 2500k. The disdain for fresh silicon gives nary shit for national identity, creed, hue, gender, asshole virginity or other vain conceit; the multitude speaks in singular. The plea: not semiconductors.

SOXS couples a single ETF entry point with the the "best" companies the semiconductor space has to offer then pushes their already horrific returns to your advantage with 3x inverse leverage, all responsibly managed via daily rebalancing to boot. SOXS counteraligns your economic interests with meme stocks like Nvidia, Qualcomm, Intel, Broadcom, Micron, Texas Instruments, Applied Materials, et al. """tech companies""" with unnecessary products, not ad companies making billions a day off boomers' eyeballs. In the last 2 days, SOXS has exploded over 1.1x yet still we are early. Semiconductor contraction will proceed exponentially until every viable space runs on mechanical devices, hydraulics, and pencil and paper. This is a fait accompli; the sheer number of interested parties and obviously compelling outcomes make it so. The rejection of increasingly complex and unreliable sensors, microcontrollers, information processing, and storage out of everything will be this era's seminal revolution, a revolution with SOXS holders planted firmly at the receiving end.
Stop waiting for the "pullback". Where we're going, fretting over a few dollars is meaningless. The deliberation is over; waiting is a failure mode. Now. Buy it now.

This post provides a comprehensive list of resources for stock market investors, including brokers, risk management tools, educational sites, options, free charts, screeners, pre-market data, and more. It also touches on the potential financial implications of Jews shooting down extraterrestrials, and the potential for a government debt ceiling fight to cause a market crash. The post also encourages readers to invest in SOXL, a semiconductor ETF, as it is a fait accompli that the rejection of increasingly complex and unreliable sensors, microcontrollers, information processing, and storage out of everything will be this era's seminal revolution.

Right now could be a good time to consider shorting the SPY, which is the ticker symbol for the S&P 500. The S&P 500 has been on a long-term bull run and is currently trading near all-time highs. While the index may continue to rise, there are signs that a downturn could be coming soon.

First off, US economic data have recently taken a turn for the worse. US GDP growth has been slowing for months and the Q4 2020 GDP report showed a contraction of 2.4%. Consumer spending and business investment have also been weak, and the US labor market has been struggling amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Second, US stock valuations are high and have been for some time. The S&P 500's price-to-earnings ratio is currently at a record high and well above its long-term average. This indicates that investors are paying a premium for stocks and suggests that there is potential for a correction.

Finally, stock market sentiment is getting overly bullish. With the S&P 500 up nearly 10% in 2021 and with the Dow Jones Industrial Average hitting record highs, investors may be getting too complacent and could be setting themselves up for a fall.

Given the current market conditions, investors may want to consider shorting the S&P 500. By shorting, investors can potentially profit from a market decline, while still maintaining the ability to take advantage of any upside if the market continues to rally.

you're right, but a lot of Americans have bought into some strange belief that the "economy" is doing fine. That's the power of propaganda. I even see it in "smart" college-educated mongoloids.

I'm under the impression that the boomer way of gauging the "economy" was how the stock market was doing. The zoomer way of gauging the economy is jobs/unemployment rate. As long as zoomers can find jobs, they think the economy's fine, because it's not as if they're ever going to buy a house/have a family/pay off their student loans etc.

One of my favorite solders across many games in 2 was one I got at random in EU. "Apex" Murakami was an absolute pipe hitter of an assault, insane innate accuracy and tough to boot. In my headcannon she was a human purist who refused the gene manipulation and cybernetic enhancements that many of the other troops took to get an edge over the aliens, and the game itself even collaborated with me when it turned out she didn't have any psychic gifts.
I recreated her in 2 and no matter what class she rolled as I always felt like she was way more useful than average.

I'm going to try to profit off making a stock a meme. i'm going to do it with REAL - TheRealReal, an online consignment store. Their stock dumped all the way down to $1.50 for a few reasons - one, they dont make any money atm (they tried to open physical stores for who knows what reasons, and it didnt go that well), and two, they got sued by Chanel for claiming to be third-party authenticators for Chanel products without the approval of Chanel.

But I think their business is sound, and set to do well if there's a recession. And their ticker "REAL" is solid. I also think users of this thread could benefit from shopping there and dressing better.

funnily i was looking at thredup, their stock has basically experienced the same kind of dump.

so why is therealreal different? simply, thredup resells basically anything from any mall-or-above-tier brand - it ends up with a "yard sale" vibe. And when you can get basic clothing from amazon for like $9 shipped, theres no need to go to some "online thrift store" and deal with sorting through a bunch of junk.

meanwhile therealreal has an actual value proposition, which is carrying a designer-brand and luxury-brand products at deep discounts - and often, these products are no longer available in stores anywhere, so therealreal is the only place to get them other than eBay or random online boutiques.

for example, if let's say you wanted a specific piece from the Calvin Klein Fall/Winter 2009 runway collection, basically your only place to look other than ebay would be therealreal.

>>53677087
secondhand and thrift stores boom during recessions, as do "quirky" alternatives like Etsy, which exploded during the 2008 recession. basically, during a recession, people have more time than money, so they will spend more time searching for deals or for unique things vs just going to the mall and forking over dough without thinking.

It's not like Hanes particularly has a reputation for comfort or quality, so I wouldn't expect much brand loyalty from anyone but boomers who have been wearing Hanes briefs for forty years.

overall i dont think any apparel companies without specific & enduring brand appeal are good bets as low-end apparel comes to be dominated by third-world manufacturers.

Hanes has been doing this partnership with Tide to try to get people to wash in cold water. Which, to be clear, doesn't fucking work that well.

The motivation is pretty obviously, "if we sell people on washing with cold water, they wont be able to keep their clothes clean, so theyll have to buy more fresh white t-shirts and fresh white socks."

I don't think they have any motivation to pay any real amount of money for the Hanes name when the Hanes name doesn't mean anything to anyone but some genuinely ancient boomers. They would probably rather use a generic name, or license a random brand with a better vibe.

And like, look, underwear is cheap as fuck - even if you buy Calvin Klein or Tommy Hilfiger underwear, what's it going to be, like $5 a pair? $10 max? In my experience, that's what younger people go for. Either vaguely premium menswear brands like those two, or just nike/adidas.

I wish you were right, I really really do, but the rise and staying power of leggings is strong evidence to the contrary. Leggings are just about the nastiest, sweatiest, most restrictive, least breathable fabric on the planet.

People are very easily tricked by the "this feels soft" nature of synthetics, vs the slightly coarser initial feel of cotton. Then they get eczema or acne from sweating into their viscose and they don't understand why.

People just start using eczema creams or taking steroid pills instead of wearing cotton...as I said, I wish you were right, because synthetics are nasty as hell, but my feeling is you're not right.

that's kind of my point. they sell hanes at family dollar. its already bottom-of-market.

they sell calvin klein & tommy hilfiger underwear on discount at Ross Dress for Less already - so if any retailer wants a premium-looking brand, it'll have to be more upmarket than those, and i don't think Target is about to start selling Gucci underwear. (well, actually, maybe).

the other avenue is "maximum comfort brand" - and with that, you usually see new upstarts promising "revolutionary comfort" and delivering the same product, but people are easily tricked. Smartwool did this for socks, and MeUndies is doing it for underwear - you've heard of that one if you listen to any podcasts as they buy ad spots on tons of them.

imo, Hanes would do better if they used their existing supply chain to start a cycle of "fake startup brands" and put them on the shelves at their existing retailers. You would just do a new branding every year, depending on what's in. People like Marie Kondo this year? "Wakatani Simple Undergarment." People are talking about hygge? it's not really cutting lines. they could make exactly the same product - white cotton socks - but change the name every year to something currently trendy.

if we're talking about black folks, and young americans in general, they dont wear hanes socks at all. they wear nike socks, and pretty much nothing but nike socks. if you go into a Dicks sporting goods, theyll have gigantic bins full of nothing but white or black nike crew socks. hanes is nowhere to be seen.

the way young people dress - socks & sandals or socks & crocs being popular - has actually made socks a lot more visible, and the price difference between a $20 pack of 3x nike crew socks, and a $12 pack of 6x hanes crew socks, isnt enough to justify buying the generic. as fewer and fewer people work manual trades, fashion is ever more dominant over price & practicality. and related to what you were saying, people would rather steal nike socks than be caught in hanes.

i think nike has successfully imprinted its stupid logo on zoomers at a brain stem level and they will be wearing nike products until the day they die.

they wear them with every single "style" of outfit that they do, even when it makes no fucking sense. zoomer "hippies" wear them with their birkenstocks. zoomer "preppy girls" wear them with their penny loafers. zoomer "goths" wear them with their doc martens.

its hilarious really. one of the easiest ways to clock a "vintage" image as being a larping zoomer is that they're wearing nike socks. they dont have any idea that its a zoomer thing.

what i find especially irksome is that the nike swoosh, being a simple curved shape, doesnt even fucking render well at the stitch resolution used for socks. it looks blocky and fugly. the adidas bars logo looks so much better. whatever. fuck zoomers.

i posted that image as an example of the nonsensical way zoomers wear nike socks with everything. this person is trying to do some kind of "cozy hygge" look but instead of wearing, for example, cashmere socks, shes just got default nike socks on, because to zoomers theyre the only socks that exist.

heres what i mean about the logo though. and it looks a lot worse than this in real life, when its stretched out on a fat zoomers trotter.

anywhere ive been in america, if you sit somewhere and count how many people are wearing white vs any other color socks, its at least 70/30, and if you look at just men, its like 90/10.

You know whats fucked up? The USPS was prohibited from shipping and handling vaping products a year or two, plus any 3rd party shipping the products must verify ID and get a signature upon delivery. But my brother can order THC cartridges straight from California and the USPS will hand deliver it to his door, no ID or signature required. Hell, he ordered an ounce of plain marijuana from some native or something for medicinal use and the USPS got it to him in 4 days. A whole ounce of marijuana.

This isn't a dudeWEED rant. It's more a what kind of bullshit is that rant.

Hey guys. I post itt and on /trash/ a lot. Do you know what "gooning" is? Its basically where you waste all day edging and cumming and being dominated with porn.

How the fuck is this finance related? AI. There is a program called Elsavirus and has many forks and offshoots, and the idea here is that it floods your computer with porn, causing dozens of pop ups of whatever flavor you like, furry, bbc, inflation hentai whatever. I showed this to a good friend and he already was using AI to generate porn of his OCs and had a chat AI hooked into it to create vosuals for the story he was typefucking.

Long story short, the future of porn is going to be interactive. Deepfakes, generated content, you name it. We need better consumer grade chips and data centers. Traditional porn is fucking dead once this catches on.

well uhh i'm guessing the thc/flower he ordered wasnt labeled as such in the mail. legitimate companies cant mail shit that isnt supposed to be mailed, but randos can label it whatever they want. have you not heard of like, silkroad? if youre mailing something illegal, you just put a random place as the return address and drop it off in a mailbox - and you can drop packages under 11 oz in any usps mail receptacle on the street, if you print out a shipping label online.

i dont really know what you mean by "wagie" - if you mean people who work in restaurants/service, you could well be right, but that isn't most people. black socks obviously don't show as much discoloration from wear, so theyre better for people who are going to be sweating. but i would bet you that those same people wear white socks on their days off.

Not really. You can order those batteries anywhere that sells them online and the USPS will deliver it because theyre not restricted to vaping, It's mostly the nicotine juice that the regulation specifies. The will not ship or handle vaping oil.

makes sense, that nicotine juice leaking out onto someone's skin could possibly be pretty harmful if the person had a heart condition. in comparison, touching weed doesnt really do anything. not that its legal to mail weed, but they probably dont super care.
