Thought I had completely filled the ammo crates until I went through and pulled out copper bullion, gold backs, and other bizarre shit that had been thrown in bags and stuffed inside. After moving coins from their plastic mail sleeves into tubes I have cut down the bloat by about a third and have developed a much simpler stacking regime.

Well, you need to polish coins really hard to make a mirror surface and that requires a thick layer of plated metal everywhere. Cheap plating kits use pens or brushes and cannot do that, it requires a professional plating set like this.

Rare and unusual silver items tend to fetch a big premium usually. I've seen all kind of beautiful old stuff like pyrogenes, mouchette scissors (to extinguish candles), snuffboxes, vinegar cruet tops, decorated sewing needles' cases, chocolatieres, etc... go for x3 to x10 silver spot.

Old candleholders also are very popular and tend to go for big money if they are in solid silver.
From times to times i lurk on auction websites for richfags. You wouldn't believe the cash they spend for silverware if they are in good condition and old enough. Especially the rare and large items, like water fountains, large sculpted plates and vegetable dishes.

Depends on a variety of factors
location of the silver, not just country location but also the deposits in the crust to mine from
labor force and equipment required to maintain and manage for extraction
and laws or taxes in the area among other legal considerations
so depending on some things it could be more or less profitable, but I've never heard of it never being profitable unless whoever is in charge mining it is being inefficient or wasting resources and expenditures

Absolutely amazing, that thing is a masterpiece. Match holders or "vestas" are very collectible, some selling for several times what that one did so while quite expensive compared to bullion $200 for an antique OG merchant is probably not a bad deal. I'd be inclined to buy one to make a silicone mold of, then make wax castings for lost-wax silver home-pours. I had been looking for Polish "happy merchant" figurines, the ones with a smiling Jew holding a coin used as good fortune charms kinda like the maneki-neko cats to make silver castings of but that vesta is even better than what I've come across so far.

Glad someone appreciates it. I posted it on two threads since December and you two have been the first to comment.

There is a Vesta on eBay atm that’s the devil. It’s similar, but not as funny because you know it’s the devil not a horrendous stereotype. I really did want it, but based on the size in the description and I was mainly looking to bag a melt value bargain I wasn’t going higher than £30 as it happened access it by accident. I would have loved to own it, but I’m trying to increase a stack not grab antiques. All the action happened in the last minute where it jumped to £100 then another £60 on the final 15 seconds.

Any luck in your hunt for cheapies? I was watching a poorly listed batch of cutlery in the UK that ended yesterday, probably about 36-40 chunky hallmarked sterling dinner forks and soup spoons I'd estimate weighed between 2.2-2.5kg, no mention of sterling in title or description so I thought it might fly under the radar and go cheap but it sold for 920 GBP or around $1,100, definitely below melt but not cheap enough for me. Even with the cost of shipping to the USA I've scooped up some good deals from English sellers but it doesn't happen too often. I get the impression that competition in the UK for your antique sterling is very robust, probably because the obnoxious VAT on silver bullion makes hoarding antique sterling an appealing stacking strategy, do you have any insights about that hunch?

How do you recognize silver? Just trying to check my local eBay equivalent to see if the below-spot meme is real.
But if it is, it might be in coin collections. Mostly obviously not-PM coins (lol, loads of people trying to sell “rare” 2€ coins for 2.50€) but some have suspicious tarnishing, like pic related. Probably best if you just know your coins but given that there are millions of them, that’s gonna be hard.

Still, I see your point. I guess the issue of flipability comes up for me. I like to always be able to flip my buys for at least an equal amount that I put into them. The only time I break that rule is for a much longer hold. I don't see the 40%ers as an awesome long since they basically only follow raw spot price, so it leaves me feeling iffy about them.

Here's something a little different. You leafs might like it...? It weighs 25 grams. Dunno if it was made by this company, but its appearance makes me think the process must be at least similar.

"Freddie’s technique was shared with a few relatives and close friends, then ultimately passed on to the founders of Rocky Mountain Leaf Company.

To transform the organic material from its natural state, each leaf is dried and dipped into a solution to remove the tissue, leaving only the vein structure.

Using an electroplating process, each piece of nature is coated in a layer of copper. This process creates a strong and durable foundation for each piece, as well as protecting the shape and veining patterns to create a superior and longer lasting product. The leaves, cones, and acorns are then finished in either 24K gold, fine silver, or iridescent copper. Our silver items are treated with an anti-tarnish coating."

Get physical gold and physical silver at 1:100 weight ratio or more like 1:150, 1:200, 1:500, etc. That means for every ounce of physical gold you get 100 ounces of physical silver. Ideally you should get them sized in 1 oz because they're the safest and easiest to verify (so many tests available, including specialized hardware). Stick only to physical, if you don't hold it you don't own it. Miners are worse than shitcoins, you'll lose most of the time, if you ever decide to get some, put no more than 5%.

Digging deeper i finally found it : it's from the county of Nice, who belonged to the Duke of Savoy between 1388-1790 before being reintegrated to France, so they had their own hallmark system apart from the french system (which is already ridiculously complex).

That's a given, you can't have any grace when you are a sodomite zog puppet with zero dignity and pride ready to betray your own kind for few digitoilet papers.
About the humility, i'm not so sure, it really depends. Some were next level egomaniacs. Some others considered themselves as servants of their people and Jesus before everything, ready to devote every minute of their life for the the well being of their nation, like king Louis IX, the best king we ever had.
