Because ultimately, the transparency of BTC coupled with it's safety related features make it useful in situations XMR can't be. If you truly use crypto, you don't believe in one coin to rule them all more so than some coins serving different utilities. This however does not do away with the fact that most cryptocurrencies are either a scam/useless, but it does mean that BTC, XMR and many others aren't.
