For all the bros invested in SALT I'd highly recommend cruising over to ceo.ca/salt and checking out the thread. There's bros crunching the numbers and that conservative 4x the PEA stated is looking like an absolute, bare bones, conservative minimum and there's data showing that $10-40 is a much more realistic price for the stock.

Geology is one of the hardest degrees you can get because it is a culmination of all sciences. Biology, chemistry, physics, engineering all come into play at a very advanced level.

It's basically an engineering degree and then you have the field work component where you're spending weeks in the field with note books and equipment and being graded on measurements you take.

Its an amazing education but it really really sucks.

Not sure how it is now.

I attended Mines in the 1990's and basically nobody got in. Of those that got in, a significant fraction didn't survive to graduate.

I've also done a medical degree, and the impression I got was geology was by far harder than anything else out there at the time.

Wow, a medical degree. One of my best friends is an MD and that shit, while time-consuming, is not hard. If it were hard we wouldn't have black doctors. Don't confuse your undergrad classes with practice. Geology is a meme degree, it's a B.A at some schools.

Funny story. I was logging core for a major and got to talking to the janitorial contractor. She made more than me and wanted to sell her biz, so I bought it. She was a small time enviro and janitorial contractor for industry and government. I worked for her for a year free of charge to pay for the company. She trained me. As soon as I owned the biz I dropped her rates 20% and took over 5 counties. In the next 2 years I took over 5 states.

Engineering math all the way up to differential equations (that includes calculus 1, 2, and 3)

Engineering level chemistry (1 and 2)

Engineering level Physics (1 and two)

Biology one and two with paleo biolgy.

Structural geology. Igneus and metamorphic petrology. Field methods. Field CAMP.

Sedimentology and stratigraphy is one of the easier classes in the degree and I doubt this moron >>53626695 could even pass. I was in the lab for twenty hours every weekend logging sedimentary core inch by inch and looking at microstructures. I did tens of thousands of feet in my time of that class.

Now go out in the field and measure the strike and dip of a rock. You have to use a brunton compass and plot your location exactly on the topomap. Now hike six hours back to the lab and no you cant go back and measure the rock if you fuck up because the outcrop is six hours walk away through mountains and hills. Oh and you have to make sure your papers dont get crumpled up or smudged or god forbid rain."

And then I forgot to again mention minerology which I am 100% certain you could not pass that class.

Look, you seem really triggered by people saying geology is easy. Your program was probably difficult. The confusion ain't your fault.

I sat in on a "Geosciences Education" seminar last semester, key takeaways:
>There is no standardized geology curriculum in US universities
>Can't even agree on a name, even if it's the only "Geology" major at a Uni: Geosciences, Geology, Geophysics, Earth Sciences, etc.
>As a result, degree difficulty varies widely
>By contrast, an ME is an ME is an ME and they're guaranteed to have taken a particular set of courses
>Most geologists end up working for the government (~70%), not helping the case for "geology being a difficult major"

geotechnical engineering and engineering geology are more similar, but yet still different and require different education, training, and licensing if you country/state requires licensing.

>In fact most people that drop out of geology end up doing civil engineering.
wrong again. geology hippies that cant do the physics, chemistry, math drop out to geography, or go to a college for soft geology where those core classes are not required. Any top geology school requires the same undergrad science classes as physics, chemistry, engineering, or math majors.

Stop pretending geology is some hard subject to grasp. If someone can handle the math, physics, chemistry the rest is easy unless you are ginger and cant handle the outdoors. Lots of students would work all day and trip acid at night sleeping under the stars and did geology just for fun as they went to become astronauts, doctors, lawyers, or business owners.

If you get a degree in geology and work in the oil industry you are doing it wrong if you are getting dirty, unless you want to slum it like the apes on the rig.

It's amazing how natty is getting fucked so hard day after day. I would have expected at least some kind of a week or two long bounce, but nope this fucker just keeps on digging it's way down.
Funniest thing is that it can still tank nearly 40% lower from here and that would just be a 2020 bottom. With this much momentum there's no telling if it's even going to stop there when it reaches that $1.5.
It's interesting how the companies aren't quite keeping up with the price collapse.
They seem to think the fall is bullshit and are a far cry from their 2020 numbers, most of them are barely tickling their 2022 lows.
That sector is going to quickly turn into one hell of a dumpster fire if the price doesn't bounce from the lows and the company prices start catching up with what the commodity is doing.
Fun to watch from the sidelines how this mess plays out.

The momentum down is so hard there's no stopping this collapse any time soon. Anyone getting into it is catching the sharp end of a knife.
I wouldn't trust a single bounce in it until it has consolidated to some level for at least a month or so.
We're approaching summer anyways so I doubt there's going to be any justification for the price to move up based on demand for the coming months.

>>53631972

The expectation that drove the price up was the fucked world situation along with a cold winter, but instead we got a warm winter in Europe crushing all hopes of people freezing to death and having to buy expensive gas for months.
But it's good to keep in mind that the energy infrastructure and situation in general is still fucked.
If they can crush this for the summer and shake retail out, next winter is going to bring insane profits for anyone who gets in at the bottom, wherever that may be.

NOW. Peter zeihan said today that the Russia Ukraine war is going to pick up BIG in May and that should have an incredible effect on the gold price. Probably will kick off the entire super cycle in commodities. Side note. For those of you who talk shit on charts if you knew charts you'd know this shit is amazing. It's like they predict the future.

Other takeaways from zeihan talk (the number one geopolitical economic analyst in the world by the way), POTASH, oil fertilizer, coal, neon, platinum, good. All going to see explosions in demand and cratering in supply the next year and the situation will be like that for the entire TEN YEARS MINIMUM. He said we are going to have 9 to fifteen percent inflation for the next five years and that agriculture in the US is going to explode for the next four decades.

He said that through all of this shit it's going to suck in the US and we're going to bitch but we're going to come out stronger and the rest of the world is literally going to collapse. He said stick a fork in Germany, its done and won't last five years. He said China is going to collapse within the decade and Russia is done as well. This war is about their survival.

Honestly the picture he paints for the world looks pretty awesome. Hordes of niggers in Africa starving. China collapsing. Unfortunate that Russia has to collapse and the US emerges with a strong manufacturing base and agriculture base and becomes world super power once again. Now if we can only get rid of Jewish power and the hordes of illegals it'd be pretty fucking great. Boomers retiring and dying and millennials are positioned to become management during the next financial and business cycle. Really optimistic and comfy actually.

>self-sustaining country
Laughable. It is not now a self sustaining country. It could be, clearly, since every land mass is self sustaining. Otherwise the population would be reduced to a sustainable level. This is nature. Not politics.
The argument and the point is moot considering nature has the proclivity to run its course without incentive or consequence.
Without a state to conduct or arrange it's trade internationally, Russians would simply not have bananas, would learn to produce them, or exchange them freely without the aforementioned "trade" as conducted by their government

>> No.53640420

>self sustaining
On it's face this terminology seems grandiose although worthwhile, utopian but achievable. Both a historical relic and an impossibly arduous ideal, self sustainability is mankind's natural state of being while also being unattainable without societal systems of governance that plainly disregard that natural state of being.
Because, obviously, nature doesn't have laws that achieve balance and promote self sustainability, society must create laws to enforce these goals that nature has so rudely denied us

I knew picrel well after our years together in far flung jungles
Clate McDaniel helped me learn to dredge way down, deep in the tecates. He was exemplary on a machine; any machine. We churned at least 50 tons of material in southern California; where I really learned to use my dry suit.
He was the best, most unreliable, unpredictable, and least forgiving operator I've ever been around.
I'll have to post my dry suit soon to prove where I'm at in this walk of life.
Idk if panman has a dry suit but lemme let you Niagaras know it's a very expensive piece of gear.

>> No.53641774

yep I exclusively use a dry suit when creek crawling, the high alpine creeks here are too cold for a wet suit, you will get hypothermia in 20 minutes with a wet suit and, it could kill you in the wrong spot. My old mentor showed me the correct procedures years ago on how to use a suit by yourself, what to do to keep yourself down deep in the keep without weights etc. How do you store yours? Mine always ends up smelling like ass after a few dives.

My mentor also taught me how to dry suit dive under ice in the winter, but for that you need a small support crew, its suicide to do it alone in winter.

You can put a suit on with one dude! Its simple but can be tricky if you dont have your suit setup right. It doesnt work with all suits, but if yours has the zipper starting from the back and over your shoulder you can put a draw string on, hook it to a tree and pull the suit closed in a single motion. You do need to grease the zipper a lot, and your neck / wrist seals as well. Face cowl is optional, but in cold water like what i deal with its for sure needed or your head hurts after 5 minutes. Also yes, under ice is nuts, its not for everyone, its not something to do unless you have a crew to help you, I dont do it, but my mentor still does it once in a while if the weather is right, usually in mid January when the waters lowest.

I go through suits at least once a season if i am actually really working on creek crawling, rocks and bedrock are not drysuit friendly. Gloves too, I go through so many pairs a season if I am really working a creek.
Its why I also dont do winter crawling much, its just to easy to punch a hole in your suit, and fill yourself up, with all the insulation you have to wear as well when doing it, you can freeze to death easily if you fuck up.

The falls are maybe 15' but the hole in the blue stone is twice that. How? Millions of years? Is there gold at the bottom?

yes you usually have a big fire going on shore, and if you have easy access to the location by snowmobile you also have your heated water setup as well on your suit too. This doesnt always work though, if your in a shit location, the more gear you bring down, the more gear you need to get back out. Your heating system can also malfunction horribly, if you watch that show "Gold Rush White Water", they have had some accidents that could have horribly burned their divers because they never service their heaters.

A big fire, a tent and big survival coats / suits is the way to go after a dive under ice in general.

Gold could be at the bottom, but think about what a plunge pool is. Its a huge grinder, anything going in gets pulverized, and spat out, anything heavy like gold, the biggest nugs will end up on the face of the pool in fissures or pebble holes, while finer stuff and your heavy minerals end up on the very edge of the pool where the current forces it out. My mentor pulled a pound of gold off a crack that followed the leading edge of a plunge pool many years ago, and he got more each year he went back, the same crack recharged with new gold every spring freshet.
Bring a small winch or come a long with you, mount it to a tree, and use truck tire chains to pull boulders out, this makes life so much easier. Also remember when your working, you want some heavy flow so you can still see what your doing, your best bet is to make a pool with boulders, than float in that while you work your way down to bedrock.

>>53650473
Yea, you should be really careful being long a stock going into such a hyped up release that everyone were saying would make the stock jump higher. It was almost destined to fall.
>>53649634
Couple thoughts after going through the presentation. The larger resource of the two is rather low grade and has metallurgy issues so I wouldn't prescribe much value to that asset. The smaller one is decent grade for an open pit, have to look up strip ratio to see how good it is.
Their exploration project is certainly interesting, seems to be zones of significant size that are economical + large exploration potential.
Overall it definitely seems like a better opportunity than the vast majority of silver stocks at this price. They also recently did a raise so they are cashed up for a large drill program this year.

If you look at the footnotes in one of the later pages of their presentation, I think it's the one showing the resources. They note a cost of POX (pressure oxidation), so I assume the gold is refractory and it's a significant part of metal value. Not sure if silver can be refractory too. But any mention of POX/refractory in a deposit that low grade and it's pretty much gg imo. There's also that other huge silver deposit in mexico, 500Moz or something, but they can't get it off the ground because it's refractory and low grade. But the exploration project may be their main asset, it does seem promising.

Haven't checked his summaries in a while, because he's absolutely convinced of the market going up from here because of Fed suddenly easing and going back to QE and the demographics thesis he has.
He doesn't consider at all the fact that Millenials are absolutely fucking broke and can't buy homes and that money is getting tighter by the day, and that more and more people are wiping their credit cards to buy basic necessities.
At the moment the greatest thing that pumps a stock is news of a company laying off a sizable chunk of their workforce. This market isn't healthy by any stretch of the imagination.
I do like his fundamental ideas about energy markets and such and he did get the commodity timing right, but he's so data driven that he can't think outside the box at all.
I'm sure he'll win bigly in the long term as he sells his 2019 low buys to some insane runup, but his daily insights are as good as useless.
He should just stick to occasionally talking about specific companies again and interviewing people.

Just glanced over their presentation., one thing I noticed was that the resource is historical, done in the 80s, so take it with a grain of salt. Probably no metallurgical problems as it's near surface. Not often projects are refractory.

I'll take a look but honestly these small caps just seem to be moving with the price of the metals right now so spot charts seem more important. A chart could look one way but if Silver moves tomorrow then they're going in that direction no matter how they look today.

It's not in any kind of swingline trend at the minute, just been chopping for months albiet slightly upwards. RSI is neutral outside of a bearish crossover. In a single day it broke and closed under three different MAs (18, 45 and 200) which sucks but there's a a gap to fill between the past two bars and the 18 is still on top so that could change today.

Assuming that dip was on no news and is just being dragged down by spot entering a DCL, looks likely since its last big move was November when Silver started moving, then it could just be a buying oppurtunity if you've got faith in the company. It could go further down and touch the 100DMA (yellow) which is what I would usually wait for if it doesn't bounce back above the other MAs today, but if Silver finishes its DCL before then it's going back up with spot regardless.

It's so choppy and volatile I'd honestly just pay attention to spot price instead and DCA on dips if you have faith in the company and want a bigger position.

To add to this now I've finished work;

Zooming out there's a loose case for a consolidating wedge. I say loose because it only has a few points of contact with the upper line and is a fairly wide wedge, but it's consolidating above the 45 day so it could be consolidating before another leg up unless I'm simply grasping at straws just for more to say. If the wedge continues it'll break one way or the other but whichever way it goes I still think it'll ultimately be dictated by spot price.

It's also worth noting that it opened and currently sits back above the 200dma now. I tried to prep a little myself but my fucking exchange wont let me so I've sent them a message asking what the fuck
