it has a very high markup relative to the actual cost of the metal

If you have lots of money to waste then it’s an okay investment, as long as it’s at least 20k or better, and it’s handmade by a real Cuban dude who charges by the gram.
I wanted to buy some gold a year ago when crypto was up and I decided to pay a 35% premium over spot to get in in a wearable form cuz I was rich at the time. If you aren’t loaded then don’t even think about jewelry. My portfolio was like $3 million so I could afford it but I highly doubt you can considering that you want poor fat 14karat garbage. Mine is half a pound of 22 karat gold and I love wearing it every day. I will buy more gold once crypto is up again but probably just in coin form this time

OP, it's not a good "investment" but if you're very patient you can get what you want off eBay for 5-15% premium instead of a stores 300-500% bullshit scam markup

Because you're not paying for it's weight in gold, you're paying for the jeweller's labour. Given enough time it might be worth more. My mother has a bunch of gold jewellery she bought over 20 years ago and that's now worth much more, but the price of gold dipped around 2000 so it could just be because of that.

My dad used to own a pizza shop in a bad urban area (mostly Puerto Ricans and Dominicans) as an immigrant (med) in the early 2000s. He had video poker machines in the back and hired locals. You have no clue how many of them have real chains like this. Hispanics get a lot of hate but they understand equity a lot better than your average white. They will keep chains or a car and use it as collateral for loans from people like my dad (who had cash from the poker machines they would play). He had me working the cash register at 12 (wish I was exaggerating), and it taught me a lot about how the world really works. Anyways the moral is you can get these chains for a pretty good discount if you aren’t a bitch and have friends/networks in urban areas (high crime places normies avoid, but where they mostly commit crimes against each other). This assumes you’re not autistic, but the way.

>> No.53619998

No. Buy a 24k chain. It'll be way smaller, but it'll actually hold its value in gold.

>> No.53620052

yes depends on your gramm price, normaly they have a 100% premium on the spot price, so your 10k chain will get you 5k(the gold value) in the pwan shop. For example a Rolex Day Date in Gold have a Gold value of around $7500, the watch price starts at 40k.

Try to get one in a pwan shop.

people like this have chains because they can't get taken by the bank when they owe money and they can't get taken by the court when they get arrested, and they pay a very large premium for these items and a good portion of them are fake. if you aren't at risk of getting repoed or arrested they are an awful investment and they put a target on your back if you actually wear them.
