It's not that complex, boomer. They literally just buy because the hedgies are retarded and short over 100% of the shares. Redditors have identified errors in institutional trading and are using it to make money. Like seriously only a fucking moron would consider shorting a company that is already close to bankrupt, the upside is a small amount of gains with a huge downside if anyone starts pumping it.

mumus have jobs so they dont really invest even. they just throw their paycheck into line go up shit because anything else is too hard. most their gains are from being a wage slave.
bobos are grizzled veterans, fighting for their keep. bobos know struggle and they thrive in turbulent markets that make mumus piss their pants in fear. they have to have strength, resolve and intelligence to make it and work to improve themselves every day in the market. mumu is just a child compared to bobo.

Correct, honestly your entire post shits on bobos and praises mumus. I assume you're just a mumu shitting on bobos in a subtle way. If you aren't baiting you should know that timing the market like bobos attempt to do is completely random and essentially gambling. You have to short or have puts on the correct ticker and get the timing nearly perfect to make money, even in huge crashes you have to time it well.

Not gonna be doing as much stock bagging this year. Did it all last year when things were still in the shat. Also I just hiked my 401k contributions not long ago so it does most of the bagging for me this year while I turn my attention to other maters; debt reduction and emergency fund stuffing. Note I said not as much; meaning if you know the "recession" happens then yeah I'll bag more. But not before then. If it don't? Oh well. Current expectations are 0.3% MoM on headline and 0.5% on core. So January is liable to, like my dick in Taylor, come in hot.

We need oil to die more (or at least stay dead) the whole rest of the month for February to have a even a slight chance of unfucking us. Because for some ungodly reason core inflation strongly correlates with energy inflation during high inflation environments.

unironically more expensive than walmart. the name brand stuff costs a dollar or a few cents more than at the big box stores. always in the ghetto areas so the store always smells like weed and always looks run down even if its a brand new one. however, they have the advantage of being smaller and able to be more local than the big box stores (walmart, target, big lots, etc) and thats probably why they're able to last. most people in the ghetto don't even have a car so walking is the main method of transportation so walking to DG is easier than elsewhere. i don't believe the article suggesting that people are going to DG more than anywhere else, but thats just anecdotal.

i could see it having potential to outperform other toy retailers as their product is in large part an "experience" in terms of filling the bear with fuzzballs or whatever you do - and importantly its an "experience" that parents can take videos of their kid enjoying to put on their instagram - and among poorer people, "look at me, i took my kid to build a bear AGAIN" is a kind of flex as its fairly pricey. now i hate every single aspect of that but i have to admit its a better model than "we sell the same toys as amazon."

will it though? will it? i hope so but it only gets worse with each passing year. it feels like movie studios have gotten addicted to that marvelfaggot fallback money, these movies can suck shit and superfans will still pay for the movie & pay for merch too. whole lot easier than making a movie that isnt tied to some gay ip and i would think it looks a whole lot safer to investors.

having lived in prime dollar general territory you're mostly correct - but something important is, it doesnt actually matter that their prices arent the cheapest. its called "dollar general", its a "dollar store", so people assume it has the cheapest prices around.

most people literally do not look at the prices of items they put in their carts. they just go somewhere they perceive to be cheap and buy whatever they were going to buy. they may, if theyre on the smarter side, compare their cart total at one place to their cart total at another, but most dont even do that. they just go to the nearest 'cheap" place to them and dont think about it any more than that.

Stocks will keep crabbing at least until they start doing something again. We will know for sure when that happens because price changes will switch from basically no direction to any direction at all. The main indicator that we can use to identify this switch is that we will start to see stock prices rising or falling instead of just sitting there. That will tell us when returns on stocks have begun changing from flat to positive or negative. With positive or negative returns, that means that stock values will be exciting to watch rather than fucking boring. Thus, the prices at which stocks are bought and sold will be changing instead of just staying exactly the god damn same. In fact, if a stock's price is changing, then that means it isn't crabbing.

OK, your first assignment in not being an NPC railroaded into permadoomerism is to look at a chart of DXY over the past year, followed by the rate hike charts of the Bank of England, the ECB, and the BoJ. Lastly you'll want to look at the date Google spits out when you search "Yellen IMF 2022".

C3, BigBear, Soundhound. All have "AI" in their names, which is the primary reason for the run. Same reason companies with "Blockchain" or "Cannabis" in their names had their respective runs. C3 and Soundhound are probably okay longterm holds. Don't be shocked to see more companies add "AI" to their names.

In all honesty, I'm just waiting for leddit and the GME/BBBY cultists to catch wind and create another speculative frenzy similar to what happened with Blockchain, Canabis, and distressed retail. There's no forum chatter on AI stocks here or reddit yet, so I'm expecting bigger moves to come. Yeah. The article explains more. Since MLPs bypass the corporate tax, they only let you get away with bypassing taxes yourself via IRA if the gains are under 1k. I think that's a cumulative maximum, if you happened to hold multiple.
My opinion is that it's just not worth dealing with it. You can still easily hold REITs and get that pass-through + tax free IRA growth though. For some reason they don't care about REITs.

>delta: the guy who brings alcohol for alphas. without him it'd be a lot harder for alphas to do their thing, if not outright impossive. measures "moneyness" basically i.e. how many bitches the alpha gets the deeper he is inside someone
>gamma: the buck breaker measurement. measures the sensitivity of delta, basically the guy who is in charge of buying the alcohol for the party. he can buy some cheap piss or hard vodka to really shake things up, if this guy's high he migbt be up to no good if it's not in your favor as he can contribute to the other guys popping off seemingly outa nowhere
>vega: party girls. measures volatility. can be good or bad depending on your strategy, but the more of them, they cost extra for the show and can hurt alpha, but then again can really contribute to a good time. crazy bitches when high
>theta: measures time until the snitches and lame asses die down the party -- basically the longer the party, the more time for things to get interesting. yeah you pay for it though but having a 0day (same-day party) means things have to really move fast or thetafags call the parents call the cops to end the show
>rho: incel school shooter that can show up and kill parties by rambling about "the interest rates" while everyone is just trying to have a good time. nobody really knows how important he is or if he even exists at all but if we shows up hot and ready with guns to the scene it's all over

Look at those delinquency and credit card debt charts people posted; consumer balance sheets are strong and they still have a robust labor market to fall back on.

The fact that rate hikes were actually very slow (look at the 70s for some real shit) and well telegraphed means not only are corporate balance sheets strong, the companies were given all the time in the world to term out their debt. A hard landing requires a "hard" part - PMIs in the 30s instead of around 50 - and that's not really happening.

The lockdowns caused a lot of weird market activiety which led to a lot of technology companies becoming overvalued as everyone thought that "this was how the world would be forerver and ever". I guess this means the safer play is to not try to fade the rally and short, and just stick to value/energy stocks as those will probably fair better during the turbulent times and are atleast subsidized by the government.

As far as the rate hikes are concerned, I think they just follow the bond market (specifically the 2 year treasury), it it being inverted just means a slowdown has to happen.

The PMI is the part the confuses me, like you said, it needs to be in the 30s not 50. If the jobs data is cooked why wouldnt they cook the PMI? Maybe they wouldnt because its harder to discern than other data points? If its an accurate reading this actually might be the reversal and turn out to be the conituation of the bullrun.

Just because the BLS is retarded doesn't mean the job market isn't robust. Look at Fed business survey responses or Gallup polls of wagies or post counts on Indeed or whatever the fuck you want as corroboration.

Now, labor markets are robust prior to recessions all the time. But my point is they are also robust in the event of a soft landing.

>As far as the rate hikes are concerned, I think they just follow the bond market (specifically the 2 year treasury)
You can throw that schizo tidbit out. You know why? Because a year ago the bond market wasn't expecting us to be sitting at 4 god damn percent after a dozen hikes. The Fed talks and telegraphs, then the market chips in its best guess.

>it it being inverted just means a slowdown has to happen.
Again, a thing that would be necessary in the event of a recession *or* a soft landing. The difference is whether that curve inversion and tightness in lending causes something to break that heems large chunks of the economy.

>The PMI is the part the confuses me, like you said, it needs to be in the 30s not 50. If the jobs data is cooked why wouldnt they cook the PMI? All very good points. The overall data might just be skewed based on *where* the jobs actually are. Since we had lockdowns which affected some sectors (such as manufacturing), but not others, it very well could just be a reshuffling of where money needs to be flowing. Healthcare, defensives, and manufacuting might be the places to be putting capital into for this next year. Going back to the bond market, it may just be signalling that money will be tight due to an overextension in some sectors and this will be the norm going forward until things "even out" so to speak.

>> No.53608981

>>53608938
Yup. The case for a soft landing is early 2022 we have one dead Boomer, one Dogecoin millionaire, and one wagie plugging away. First two are out of the game, leaving 2 job openings and 1 wagie to do the work at his current job.

Then the economy grows to 3 job openings plus the wagie's current job. Wagie has his pick of the litter, inflation happens, shit's wrong.

Soft landing requires the wagie gets fired, a job opening is lost, and the Dogecoin millionaire is forced back into the cagie. 2 wagies, 2 jobs, all is right with the world.

That is absolutely true when looking at the labor market. The other thing that does concern me is the M2 supply decreasing, wouldn't that mean that there is less people taking out loans, which in turn would cause a decrease in growth? (I know its a lagging indicator, but wouldn't it give a decent overview in where we are generally headed in the short term?)

>> No.53609079

Yes, but, again, a decrease in growth is part of the soft landing. Fewer loans/not letting the dollar circulate is how you tame inflation.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntPeHC8z1Og

Doesn't mean the Fed can't overdo it, or that we won't stumble into some sort of crisis, but the bull case isn't 9% nominal growth with 7% inflation.
