I feel like I am stuck. I got this stupid job because I was afraid of making my boss unhappy. I thought I would be fired in retaliation if I said no. I was also desperate to get away from my abusive mother. I thought that I would get the job save, and work in school and then get the hell out of here. Instead it became a quagmire that I have not recovered from and am still here. This was not supposed to happen. I want someone to help me. It is so hard to find the energy to focus on more productive stuff.

I work as a system admin for building automation for a commercial entity with a lot of facilities. Think cameras, access controls, HVAC, work & asset management. This is for 24$ an hour.

I am not happy with the job and don't feel like there is a future here. I want to move into IT but am feeling demoralized at the uphill struggle it will be to self learn to get in there. I have good contacts with our vendors if I wanted to pursue a career in BAS but am uncertain about it.

The job I have doesn't have a standard equivalent that I am aware of. I primarily manage our systems via dashboards, reports, and projects. There is some limited hands on technical work. Yeah it is with a facilities department. So think of a manager that is for technologies without any employees. It can be pretty dull unless you find something to motivate you. Currently trying to reduce our utility costs by fine tuning our HVAC points, and schedules.

You are right about decision paralysis. I struggle with that a lot. I just feel like my ideal goals are so far away, and I have wasted too much time. How do you find the motivation to push forward?

I think your right. I need to make major life changes or I am going to blow my brains out. I have actually had several crying break downs recently which I have never done before. I just can't take this anymore. It is is just hard to start new habits to pull myself out of this. I have read Atomic Habits recently and there were some good advice in there. I need to restructure my environment to help encourage good behavior. Adding some tracking / journalism system would be useful too.
