theres something wrong with the weed they sell at dispensaries (outside california anyway) i s2g. none of it makes me feel any different than literally just smoking cbd for more than maybe 5 minutes. its subpar even compared to the random shit my friends had in highschool, and this isnt just rose glasses either, i had some cali grown blue dream a few months ago and it was good shit, weed like i remembered weed being. i guess they arent even trying to hide it though really, everything at the dispensaries here is either indica or "hybrid," and imo indica is nigger weed for putting niggers to sleep, its basically just lean.

bonds down -> yield up
bonds up -> yield down
the peak on the 2y was 4.88% not even fed target so you want to invest when bonds gets sold off again. this happens because investor see their locked-in 4% yield but interest rates going to 5%+ so they sell bonds. therefore yields go up so it makes it attractive again to buy again

you want to buy a bond when the interest rate is at its maximum it will be for that time period. ie buying a 10 year treasury at 4.40%. Then yields go down, as inflation/growth expectations come down, and now youre 4.4 yielding bond is worth moire because new bonds at 2% yielding.

no listen, yields are always flucuating. the ideal situation is buying a bond at the PEAK yield for that time period. lets say 4.40%. bond yields flucuate based on a lot of things, and lets say yields go down. now new bonds yield 2%, but yours still yields 4%. you can sell your bond for a profit. so lower bond yields make bond prices go up, and bond yields going higher make bond prices go down. you want to buy bonds when interest rates are high, and stock market valuations are low. because higher bond yields put downward pressure on stocks(as bond become more attractive alternative investment to stocks)

its hard to predict where bond yields will go. maybe theyve already peaked? maybe inflation will surge again and we'll have 6% bond yields its hard to say

That exercise was done solely with volume profile. The strategy involves waiting for the price to slip out of the value area, panic dropping far below it, and waiting for the smouldering rubble to cool before buying cheapies. Comparing the 1/3 month ones worked a lot better than just the 1 month one. I'm still figuring out when to sell (if ever) but paying attention to the nosedives out of the value area got me buying near the local lows (until the next one showed up LUL).

All the bond stuff is interesting in theory but I don't see how it matters in practice. Bones are for when you want to be ultra conservative but still want to beat just holding cash. Sure, it's nice to get bonds when they are at the highest yield but the difference is quite tiny. I can't imagine people are actually swing trading them either because liquidity is low and fees are potentially high. I have treasury bonds and don't give a cat what the yield is. It's just a way for me to hold my cash for the time being when I think the stock market is too risky

How are you identifying levels with volume profile? Also, doesn't it depend on the bars you have displayed on screen, so that moving it even a little bit gives you completely different data?

According to my TA, it should have just entered an uptrend and will probably go up a bit, though who knows what ER will do. As for fib levels, 46.17, 43.06, and 41.13 seem important.

Writing tons of microservices that send data all over the place via plaintext JSON introduces an enormous amount of computational overhead vs. a tightly coupled and highly tuned compute kernel on one or a few machines. >I mostly do ML stuff
So, there’s this new thing called “Machine Learning System Design” and I did 10 videos on it last weekend.
Any chance that you’ve ever heard of “collaborative filtering” or “recommender systems” before? there’s a whole chapter on it in this free stanford book: mmds.org (chapter 9)
What I’m saying is this: my “bullshit” is coming for you too, unfortunately.

>but there's a yin and yang of highly scalable systems vs. highly efficient systems that most people fail to grasp.
I’ve viewed it as more of a trade-off between complexity and availability, but high-frequency trading firms do go an orthogonal route because they care purely about speed.
you can get super low response times while not being cost effective though, and that concept is called “high availability”, typically involves shitloads of caching, and big tech absolutely loves it.

>Writing tons of microservices that send data all over the place via plaintext JSON introduces an enormous amount of computational overhead vs. a tightly coupled and highly tuned compute kernel on one or a few machines.
Amazon went that route for a while until it was 100+ engineers working on a single service in a single codebase.
Imagine over 100 crackhead engineers trying to churn out commits on one service in one codebase.
The initial carnation of “microservices”, which was SOA, had nothing to do with software scalability and everything to do with human process scalability—there were no hardware or software bottlenecks, it was a people bottleneck.

>Yes, there are some applications that truly do need high scalability, but most people completely ignore the efficiency aspect of it, as well as the inefficiencies present in most common high scalability tools
“inefficiency” in the sense that you’re describing is negligible to them. If they cared about it in your sense, they’d be using C or erlang instead of java

SOXL / leveraged ETF rotation strategy is basically /smg/'s version of the thetagang garbage strategy. Both strategies have zero edge, -ve EV, and delude retail into thinking they have all their risk (i.e. basis risk, vol risk, etc) covered. Your dogshit backtesting with faulty priors. There is no alpha in any of these backtesting strategies

Kelly only works If the forecasted distribution Is correct. The math part is the easy part, the hard part is forecasting the future distribution.
essentially forecasting probs. The main problem with kelly in trading is knowing the win probability...therefore usually go with 1/2 kelly to account for uncertainty.

I just think that Kelly is overrated for investing, because you can easily run a few backtests and come up with some optimal allocation(s), or simply assess the P&L curve visually and decide what’s good for you. Just like in modern portfolio theory, I don’t think they use Kelly?

Anyways, the Kelly part is controversial. But what is not controversial is that you fucking /smg/ retards need to get over your SOXL bagholding and stop acting like there's any alpha in these betashit leveraged rotation strats

A robust + successful + well defined algotrading process:

>1) Data - Clean, Accurate, Formatted, and Lots of Data
>2) Features - Anything that predicts returns! (can be another models prediction, a filter (Kalman/MA/etc), an indicator (RSI/MACD/etc), a signal (if RSI > 80: 1, if RSI < 20: -1, else: 0).
>3) Combination - PCA, Autoencoding, and more! (use some intuition with this, PCA is linear so maybe do that with some momentum indicators and do the momentum indicators together, on the reverse you may want something more non-linear (Autoencoder?) for mean reversion / seasonality / non-linear features

>4) Specific Modelling - hierarchical modelling, either time or cluster based. (cluster based might be: model momentum indicators together with linear regressions or something that suits them, or wave indicators with LSTMs or Wavenet which suits them)& (time based is using models for different timeframes, short term doesn't give AF about financials, but long term does so maybe model separately, on this note the longer you go the more linear your models should be)
>5) General Modelling - finally combine everything
>6) Risk management/ Regime shift/ Position sizing/ Meta-Labeling - this is a whole lecture in itself (modified kelly for position sizing, regime is Hierarchal HMM or/and GMM, meta-labelelling is just rinse and repeat, (modeling your model btw))

Deep learning stuff seldom works for long. I worked with someone who turned down $25 million from this firm who had a deep learning model actually using factor exposure to sort of replace components. It rebalanced daily, held for 1-10 days, 1.5(?) on average, and used Reinforcement Learning to revise risk management overnight.

They were touting something absurd like 800% YoY. Needless to say, that deep learning models are used like 1% of the time by actual RIA's / CPO's /CTA's so retards like this >>53595977 can rest assured that the models that Jim Simons and co. use are not good because of the model complexity (but because of sheer data quantity, feature transforms, etc).

The more complex trading models just literally do not have alpha.

Renaissance Tech openly admits their actual component models are very simple but aggregate to high complexities.

Yeah momentum and reversion always will have alpha. People can, however, generate super high returns with pairs trading using deep learning.
>>53596049
Do something like that for work. We like trading pairs. Most of the book is pairs trading so one week mean reversion trades. The average half life is about 7 days. And it’s a very sharp gradient in those 7 days. At a shorter timeframe this strat works to trade semi HFT stuff.

In essence it is pairs mean reversion — diverge from each other, or converge, and I trade them.
Cluster assets and find pairs in that cluster.

For ex biotech equities

Basically you have 3 parts to your clustering
Industry data, price data, and long term quality data. You could decompose the industry data into 3 levels
>level 1 would be industry such as healthcare
>level 2 would be like drug manufacturing
>level 3 would be cancer drugs.
And obviously you make this quantitative by saying okay they are 60% cancer drugs 40% heart meds and hence they are in multiple tier 3 clusters. Basically this part is easy, you just decompose the 2SD range with a shumway stoffer smoother because kalman is too conservative and then model the tails conditionally.

Then you decompose their returns into an alpha factor framework which when it comes down to it should basically be all value and quality signals

Basically you feed in IV, IC, IS and their premiums to a regime shift and a Q net deep reinforcement learning algorithm where you reinforce trigger based behaviour so that it sets a trigger level not just tries to actively trade the spread. You need attribute embedding with an LSTM as well to help it manage risk and an autoencoder or encoder decoder setup to denoise the data (I go further with aforementioned alpha factors to explain returns when I denoise). Also use a SARIMAX because believe it or not a VAR model is pretty shit and won’t remove all your predictability

I want to use an approach that used a grid of SVMs that were trained on varying data skews (x axis) and to different gain or loss cut-off percentages (y axis), to have some kind of confidence interval thing for either the whole market or different stocks getting ranked by confidence,
and then I realized what a butch it’d be to just get all the data, and to hook it up to something like Interactive Brokers.

Some dude that actually did this stuff professionally told me around 5-6 years back that he used SVMs, and I had to implement one by hand on an exam before—that’s why I chose SVMs
Plus, they really work well for smaller data sizes (what I’d end up with) and data skews for specifying minimizing Type I vs Type II errors

They got rid of some Amazon fresh grocery stores and even their Smiles charity program too. Feels surreal that even AMZN is losing more and more money.

yeah he's probably done. AWS did miss estimates like 4 or 5 times already so their cash cow is slowing down
the e-commerce stuff got no big margin anyway and he seems he has no real vision to growth AMZN further.

turkey is hosting like 3 million syrian rapefueges who are going to be unleashed on europe now. this will affect the german economy since they will all beeline there, and will affect the entire world as a result

A well-respected US research firm (Hindenberg) released a report accusing a MASSIVE Indian conglomerate (Adani Group) of fraud. The accusation has devastated the stock price of the Indian firm, and (if true) could theoretically even force the resignation of the Indian prime minister, due to his strong ties to the Adani Group CEO.

(Hindenberg is the same firm that busted the EV startup Nikola for faking their prototype EV truck.)

I'm a bear, but I don't think that will change much in the Fed's decisions. They will keep raising til 5% and probably won't go above. They'll rather wait and see first if it changes and only then go higher (End of 2023 at best).
