EV's are a joke. First the battery in one will cost you 5,000 (maybe more now) to replace. You drive it off the lot, knock off another few grand, cause whoops its now considered used. States are starting to tax them more than gas cars due to them not being subject to gas tax. Tax credits are expiring so whoops all incentive to get one just flies out the window.

it costs me about $20 to charge my tesla with about 200 miles' worth of juice at a supercharger

with gas at $3ish, which is cheap, lets say i could get 6 gallons for $20ish. then to go 200 miles on 6 gallons, i would need a car that gets 33 mpg or better.

is that super unusual, no, plenty of cars get 33 or better. theyre just not, you know, cool cars.

Absolutely not. You may think USD is a bad currency to hold with all our inflation, but for most of the world their local currencies are so bad they treat dollars like gold.
If you're lazy you can buy some country ETFs, although be warned that they're all terrible. Only good for swing trading over 3-6 month periods.
A less lazy option is to look into specific ADRs or dual listings that trade on US exchanges. Stuff like PBR.
The ideal option is to open foreign brokerage accounts. IBKR gives decent exposure to foreign markets, and Monex boom is a good option for asia specifically.

for certain definitions of "better"

my dad worked in finance for 40 years and didnt chase flashy objects because wasps are "above" that and now hes a grouchy old miser

as for me i will zoom. ive spent more on my closet than my tesla anyway

funny thing is though, ive literally never seen tesla critics mention the actual most expensive & annoying thing ive talked to other tesla owners about - these cars EAT tires. to some extent its because theyre heavy, but its also the acceleration. even if you're just going 0-30, you get used to just putting your foot down and zoooming off, which wears tires vs the slower launch of a gascar. and also, if you so much as kiss a curb, kerpop. fortunately tesla's got free roadside service & towing for all owners - and the tow guy clued me in that what people do is get tires from bridgestone that come with a warranty, because youll definitely wear them out in the warranty period. although obviously that scheme probably won't last forever.

thats why you get a used model S dumbass!

model S (imo the nicest ofc) has the biggest discount when you get it used vs the otheres. model 3s are barely cheaper used than new, same for Ys if you can even find a used one.

reddittors and white faggots are too afraid of looking cool to drive an S, so the price has stayed fairly low. at the time i bought, my S was only $8k more than a 3 from the same model year. thats unhinged honestly.

model S seats 5 and has a hugeass liftback trunk, theres litearlly no need to have a Y unless you have more than 3 kids or something

The absolute grail is if you can find an older used model S thats grandfathered into lifetime free supercharging. saw one for $35k when i was looking but it sold before i could get it.

my wife has a bunch of single 30something japanese female friends she met in college and tutoring, whenever we go to japan they flock around us and take care of us. some aren't bad looking and the sexual tension is palpable. if things ever went bad between me and the wife i would just go over there and coom in everything.

>Outlook
>Despite a nearly 9% gain in little more than a month, equities have given back very little despite historical labor market strength. With earnings season rather mixed and few economic reports on the calendar, the indicators point to a week of likely consolidation ahead.

>Bottom Line
>Apparently after massive tax-loss harvesting in December, cash-heavy traders found Communication Services, Consumer Discretionary, and Technology stocks, priced 30% or more lower than where they were a year ago, just too tempting to pass up. But with a gain of +8.9% YTD, including +2.7% this past week (through Thursday, Feb. 2), equities may have gone just a little too far, a little too fast.

>With earnings season now past the midpoint and six weeks until the next rate hike, a bit of consolidation, if not small profit taking would not be surprising here. As you can see below, there were more upgrades than downgrades, and that shifts the overall balance back to ***Neutral*** for next week.

It may not look "cool" but they are actually very good on gas milage (relative to year) with the overhead single injector, the car interior is normally comfy with power windows, and most importantly, you can see and reach everything on the engine and work on it with a $20 ratchet set. Loaner tools are free from the parts store for other things.
So you can get into the hobby today.

Just remember to finish the car, or get rid of it, but don't leave it sitting there to get finished some time later.

Maybe, but maybe not. Value stocks also tend to have higher operating leverage than growth stocks so they might get hit harder by a downturn because of that. My point is that value might not outperform during a recession.

>You will NEVER see EV's reach the mileage of regular, common vehicles while maintaining the same level of use.
Dude, EV's are simpler and have lower maintenance cost except for the battery. We are going to see EVs with much life spans than gas cars. Granted, that can only be accomplished by replacing the battery once. Also, don't pretend like maintaining gas cars is cheap because it is not. I like everyone else has a gas car, had parents with gas cars, etc so we all know that it is expensive to maintain gas cars as they age from first hand experience.

GDP lags M2 by 16 months. M2 went negative in april 2022 so we should be seeing negative gdp by August of this year. Probably will be sept though because all that inflation was stimulatory.
