the difference is that there is no real danger being long during a bear market. At worst you just hold you bags and wait it out, but you can never truly lose it all because the overall movement of the market is historically always up. The S&P500 will eventually reach a new ATH, but there is no guarantee it will ever go back to the lows that will make your shorts profitable. Frankly, shorting is not something novice investors should do at all, but way too many people here have watched some stupid hollywood movie and they think they are Christian Bale or something.

Sneed's Feed and Seed: A Local Institution Transforms into a Thriving Business

Once known as Chuck's, Sneed's Feed and Seed is a small-town hardware store that has been serving the local community for generations. The store, located in the heart of Main Street, has undergone a major transformation in recent years and is now a thriving business that offers a wide range of products and services to customers.

When Chuck retired and sold the store to the Sneed family, they saw an opportunity to revitalize the business and bring new life to the community. The family decided to change the name to Sneed's Feed and Seed, reflecting their commitment to serving the local farmers and gardeners in the area.

Sneed's Feed and Seed now offers a range of products, from traditional hardware and feed to gardening supplies and pet products. The store has also expanded its services, offering custom-made feed blends for farmers and gardeners, as well as repair services for small engines and equipment.

Customers are drawn to Sneed's Feed and Seed for its wide selection of products and personalized service. The staff, many of whom have been with the store for years, are knowledgeable and always willing to lend a hand. The store has become a hub for the local community, where customers can come to buy what they need, chat with their neighbors, and learn about the latest developments in agriculture and gardening.

In conclusion, Sneed's Feed and Seed is a testament to the resilience and determination of small-town businesses. With its commitment to serving the local community and providing top-notch products and services, Sneed's Feed and Seed is a shining example of how a local institution can transform into a thriving business.

>>53558224
John was a 27-year-old man who lived in his mother's basement and had never left his hometown. He spent most of his days playing video games and trading stocks online, but he had never made a significant profit.

One day, John stumbled upon a group of amateur traders on a forum who were discussing a stock called GameStop. They believed that the stock was undervalued and had the potential to soar. John, always looking for a quick profit, decided to invest his life savings of $10,000 into the stock.

As the days passed, John watched in excitement as the stock price of GameStop began to climb higher and higher. He was convinced that he was on the verge of making a fortune and that his days of living in his mother's basement were over.

However, things took a turn for the worse when major hedge funds began to take notice of the stock's rapid rise. They started to short sell the stock, betting that the price would fall. The stock price of GameStop began to plummet, and John watched in horror as his life savings disappeared before his eyes.

Feeling defeated and ashamed, John retreated back to his mother's basement, unable to face the world outside. He had lost everything he had worked so hard for, and he realized that he had fallen for the hype and speculation that had been fueling the GameStop frenzy.

John learned a hard lesson about the dangers of speculative investing and the importance of doing thorough research before putting his money into any investment. He realized that his quest for quick wealth had cost him his life savings and that he needed to take a step back and reassess his priorities.

In conclusion, John's experience with GameStop serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of speculative investing and the importance of being diligent and informed when it comes to our finances.

i mean either way, doesn't matter. it'll eventually get legalized federally, sooner or later. the trend is clear with public sentiment and an increasing number of states legalizing it both for medicinal and recreational usage. i live in such a state (MA). we can even grow up to 6 plants here if we want, i was considering getting into this in the spring when the weather warms up just for fun and to save some money, maybe sell a little to my friends on the side.

it's really just a matter of time. it's a great gamble if you're willing to wait. like, it's not a matter of "if", just "when".

My actual return during this period is probably 3 to 5%.
I could have just picked stocks and enjoyed my life, instead I am always obsessing with quick returns, trying to time the market, and wasting countless hours of my life with this shit.

agree with your point but not with the timeline

we won't see the real unemployment data until march at the earliest. layoffs have only begun and severanced employees don't count towards unemployment.

real wage increase won't be seen until then as well. most salary reviews occur around march (and secondary one around august-sept)

and that's just (((real))) data... under the canadian dictatorship, employers are desperate to get workers returned to office by march which tells me something is going to happen around then, and they want workers back under their control.

plus it would completely beheem all bears if we pomped for 2 months while the terrible looming data trickles in, and obviously completely beheem all bulls if it dumps thereafter

in this data it will include wage inflation
dynamic is likely
>jobs data comes in strong
hurray - the economy is strong! soft landing!
>jobs data comes in weak
hurray - the economy is weak! pivot soon!
only if the data was very, very bad would bad news be seen as bad news
the only other piece of data that would be bearish would be if wages were to go up higher than expectations - revival of inflation
but most likely, market will just go "news is good news!" no matter the print

Pro tip: If you missed the 200 day SPY moving average to get into SPXL for the leverage rotation strategy, remember the strategy also works on the 10 day, 50 day, 100 day, etc. so you can get on board at any time. Wait for SPY to pull back under the 10 day then get in when it rises above. Or whichever other average you prefer. Always have your risk in mind, let's not have another SOXL debacle but don't let fear stand in the way of relatively easy life changing gains for you and your family

market has been functioning under the belief that the economy is so weak that the Fed will pivot
expectations for jobs was to add 185,000 -- instead 517,000 were added
the economy is already very hot, too hot - the 'natural' rate of unemployment is supposed to be around 5%, we're at 3.4% - when it's this artificially low, it creates imbalances in the labor markets - where employers cannot get the employees they need, so then they start to raise their wages to attract more workers; when employers pay out more wages irrespective of productivity growth, it leads to inflation, as the people who are getting paid more are able to consume more goods and services at higher prices - more demand with supply remaining the same = prices go up
the more jobs, the more economic activity, the more goods and services being produced, the more people receiving a paycheck, means that more people need dollars - demand for dollars goes up - this pushes up the relative strength of the dollar which is bearish for stocks. when the dollar is weaker, it becomes 'cheaper' for foreign nations to both buy goods and services from US corporations, increasing US corps competitive edge / boosting their revenues and profits, as well as cheaper for them to buy US stocks
and finally, the very high jobs data indicating that the economy is "too hot" gives the Fed more leg room to raise interest rates aggressively - makes it more likely that the Fed will continue to raise interest rates; because of this we saw a big rise in yields on bonds in anticipation of interest rates going higher --- also, with more economic growth from more jobs, demand for money rises, it is more 'expensive' to borrow money when demand is higher / growth expectations are higher - interest rates higher
valuations are based upon the risk free rate of government bonds - when interest rates are higher, it is more attractive to hold bonds than to hold stocks, and discount cash flow from future years is worth less
