I've noticed all the hype around gold recently, and all the central banks buying gold, so it seems like a good idea to have some.
I currently own about 20 grams of 14k, and 3/4 of an oz of 22k coins.
I'm about 300/1 on Ag/Au. So I was thinking about trading some silver for gold.
I traded about 60 oz of silver for 1.8 oz platinum today.
The silver I would want to sell would be about 800 grams of sterling, and a 1980 Moscow olympics 28 coin set from the USSR. (20 oz)
Do I just eat the dick of getting under spot for my sterling, and around spot for my russian set? I've been stacking heavy on Ag because its cheap and I plan on trading it into gold when the GSR resets, but with a definite recession and possible depression, it seems gold would take off with silver. Do I just wait it out and hope that silver keeps pace with gold? Or do I trade for gold and sell when gold peaks and silver hasn't caught up?

Or am I misunderstanding and it's only Americans who would benefit from the American Eagle buff because it's their country's coin?
If the price of silver goes way up and one can profit from it way more than they can now, why would anyone pay extra for Eagles?
Recognition factor shouldn't matter, right? Surely people would be testing any silver thoroughly if they're going to be paying double, triple or even more than that, compared to what it's going for now, no? (again not necessarily in our lifetime)
