2% inflation means we get $100 loaf of bread in 2100

6% inflation means we get $100 load of bread in 20 years

rich people all got their 15% pay raise by now, turns out that 6% inflation doesn't hurt that much then. problems is their stonks aren't going going up properly anymore, so jpow is now taking care of that.

most of these wagie raises in 2022 were eaten up by increases in cost of living. https://www.wsj.com/articles/workers-lose-ground-to-inflation-despite-big-wage-gains-11673649460

If I’m not mistaken that’s year over year inflation, meaning a 12 month running average. You can’t go back in time and change inflation, so even if you managed to tackle inflation to become 0 month over month going forward, you will need to wait 12 months for the average reported inflation to reduce.

What really matters is watching the month-over-month inflation as that indicates what the 12 month average will revert to over time (a new 13 month cycle).

I don’t think you understood the 12 month rolling average. By this time last year month over month inflation was rampant. What I’m saying is that these rate hikes have been sufficient to place the month over month inflation into a sufficient range but we need more months of this to change the 12 month rolling average. That’s why we can start to tapper off.
