>sent out 80 job applications on Indeed
>only one interview and five rejection replies

These are entry level jobs. Do companies put these jobs up to actually fill them or do they just put these jobs online because they have to? This is highly demoralizing

As I go through Indeed there are hundreds of not thousands of ‘Last Active 30+ Days Ago’ jobs

Which to me says they never intended on using Indeed to fill them

I just checked a job description for a delivery driver and this was the description.
>(company) provides High-End Laundry Pickup and Delivery service for busy clients and those who would rather spend their time pursuing their goals. We trade our service and give them back their time along with a clean and eco-friendly laundry service.

Is it me or is 'for people who would rather pursue their goals' disrespectful to the people applying to the job? as if you can't be pursuing your goals if you take the job? maybe I'm stir-crazy from reading job descriptions all day.

It's funny how you see news like "There are so many jobs and nobody wants them!"

>> No.53524147

Fake listings? I never thought about that, but it kinda makes sense. So you pretend to have positions open to make it look like business is going well, and then never reply to any applicants? This would make a lot of sense for some of the job postings I've seen a few months ago

>> No.53524162

>>53520967
many job postings are fake: outright scams or positions that were filled but the recruiting roasties were too lazy and retarded to take the posting down, or they were told to keep it up, to data harvest resumes.

of the jobs postings that aren't fake, most applicants are total retards so the application inbox is flooded with absolute garbage. low level recruiter roaties are hired to sift through resumes and present the good ones to hiring managers for consideration. unfortunately most of these recruiting roasties are women in their 20s, and oftentimes they're contracted employees who don't even work for the company or even understand the role, so they do an awful job and end up wasting time. as a personal anecdote, i helped my boss interview candidates for 2 open positions on our team. it took between 6-8 months to find and hire two people. it wasn't even an issue of local talent, the posting was open to fully remote candidates (although the retard contract recruiter roastie fucked up the posting and initially had it listed as hybrid in another city for about 1 month.)

>> No.53524190

>>53524147
Also for datamining. I don't bother looking for a new job on the big boards now, its guaranteed that by next morning I will start recieving phone calls from "SIR HOW ARE YOU TODAY" jeets.

>> No.53524203

It took me like a year of applying to get a job, I was insanely down on myself because my savings ran out plus I lost everything in crypto. A tax place finally took a chance on me and it’s a pretty chill job surprisingly. You just have to keep applying.

>> No.53524220

>>53521093

>> No.53524222

>>53524162
also consider that most companies are literally retarded and will make their current short-staffed employees do additional work so a hiring manager can hold out for the perfect Cinderella glass shoe candidate. i've been rejected from somewhat specialized roles despite being qualified, and i see the company reposting the same role every few weeks, to stay at the top of the "active postings" list, for months and months and months.

this nigger gets it
I use to only apply on indeed with zero fucking results
then i changed my tactic, browsed indeed or other job apps to see who is hiring, go to their company website, and submit an application directly through it. If they have no section on their website to apply, i normally ditch it, but sometimes they have a section for "HR" and I do a manual submission via email to HR.

I'm not gonna bullshit though, took months before i got a reply and a position, but sure as fuck better then letting some gay ass app decide for you or some AI filtering you out

Pay money for someone to critique your resume. Pick a quota, I did 4-5 applications a day. Once you put that amount in (no more) stop looking at jobs for the day. I applied to 147 jobs after college and had interviews with 3 and offers from two. That was a worse job market

>> No.53528305

>>53520967
My experience is that companies have a number of positions they're constantly hiring for because they have constant churn. So what they do is post an ad every single week or month. Most of the time, they don't need to hire someone. But half the time, they do need to hire someone in which case they take a glance at the inbox.

So yes, most of those job postings do not result in hiring. Honestly, there needs to be checks and balances on the system such as charging for postings, charging for applications, charging for interviews. Game theory should be applied to the whole process to increase efficiency. As it is now, it's a complete joke.

The likelihood of getting a response is related only to whether or not someone quit that morning.
