53506817 No.53506817 [Reply] [Original]

Basically, what I’ve discovered is that in 2023, these are the new income classes:

$0-$90,000: lower class/poverty class
$90,000-$140,000: lower middle class
$140,000-$230,000: middle class
$230,000-$325,000: upper middle class
$325,000-$550,000: upper class

And basically that means professions like engineer, accountant, teacher etc. will put you firmly in the lower/poverty class (can’t afford a home, barely save for the future etc.), really two of these types is needed to enter just the lower middle class.

A single tech worker is basically the only way for an individual earner to enter the middle class in 2023. People don’t want to accept it but this is just based on basic calculations on home prices/school prices/car prices. Boomers especially have trouble accepting reality because their brains are still fixed to prices when they were younger so in their mind $80,000 is a good total income, but in reality $80,000 gross means you’re priced out of home ownership.

This is true, its basically impossible to build any long term wealth without property to park it in, so the majority of conventional jobs (service industry, teacher, low level public servant, butcher, grocier, fisherman, labourer, etc. Basically anything that people think of when they think "middle class") are at subsistence level. Not the subsistence level of poor third world farmers either, since they at least own their own lands.

The economy in my town, at least in terms of storefronts, is about 50% botique stores, resale, second hand goods, consignment, etc.

I went into one such store to sell some shirts, and was told that they operated entirely on donations.

Its mind boggling that this town has no real manufacturing base, just property owners recycling peoples trash for a high markup.

Boomers took a powerful industrialized economy and turned it into a nationwide clearance sale. At this rate our grandchildren will be sorting through garbage dumps to resell coper wire and plastic buttons to each other.

Show me where you’re doing that on the average household income.

I work in small scale manufacturing and work on the side as a private tutor for clever middle class teenagers, and im barely getting by.

Meanwhile the richest people in my generation are ones whos mommy abd daddy helped to finance a house, and now rent it out to poor people for more than their morgtage.

The issue is that the economy doesnt reward productive labour. In fact it funnels it away from productive labour into the pockets of parasitic rent owners, who increasingly become obscenely rich at expense of an increasingly poor lower class with no real chance at social mobility.

Try not being such a useless boomer parasite

>in my disconnected reality and work of total fiction it's definitely not common for people who are making $80-100k/year to live with roommates or even live at home into their 30s.
Then you must make incredibly poor spending choices and lead stupid lifestyles. You will also find that your earnings may not stay at what you claim they are. Its entirely possibly you really just are dumb and are telling teh truth but really the [probability says you are some sort of weird nut. Who would earn 90K (70-90 I would say is fairly average professional earnings pre tax) and house share? You need to grow up. If you are spending that money on bills and feeding yourself you need to learn how to live because you don't know.
>>53514029
I don't care. I don't expect you to care about me or my family either. If you want wealth redistribution and socialism you will make yourself and everyone else poor and miserable if you get your way. It would be better if you died. My entire understanding of you is you hate people older than you and you want to have their money. You don't even know how old I am (not a boomer) because the thought never crossed your mind that you may just be an idiot who lives in a world of ideas for stupid people, like blaming boomers and socialism. You are posting pseudo Marxist nonsense speak and you sound like some African cargo cultist repeating words that impressed you. You really are dim. Neither do you have any dignity. I don't need to tell you how I made your money. Your fucking pathetic 'I'm working class virtue signal' rings false and hollow. You sounds like an unemployed whining spoilt millennial bum who has never held down a job for more than a year. Just like your friend OP with his opposite end of the millennial spectrum of bullshit seems like an arse as well.

I make 50k a year.

The cash may be but one of my pension accounts did quite well over the last 12 months, its up 23%. I'm sure there must be some 401ks that did ok in the last year.

$100k gets the vast majority of people nowhere.

Sounds terrible but you can get a second hand Tesla now for cheap.

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=tesla&_sacat=0&_sop=2

It will save you on fuel and repair costs. Get the Tesla for 7k, ditch your current car and just use the Tesla to drive to work.

I live off 35% of net and I’ve never had avocado toast. I manage money better than you and live very frugal. $100k isn’t shit no matter how you cut it and you’re delusional as fuck or never left your moms basement if you think otherwise.
