If there's a 50 bps raise the market will not just expect a pause but an immediate cut at the next meeting which just can and will not happen.
A 25 bps raise would still be in the range of expectation and the market would be way more forgiving if there is no pause but only 25 bps raises in the future.

Depends. Outstanding loans at low rates are underwater now. Massive yield curve inversion means new longterm loans written are underwater.
If they're holding risky loans: auto, credit cards, personal loans, subprime housing then they could see defaults.
On the other hand, banks with good balance sheets and excess capital are getting 5% right now just to sit on that cash. Many banks have just left their savings account yield at/near 0%, and checking accounts are of course also near 0%. So that's a lot of free money for the banks. There are a lot of boomers out there who have sat their money in the same bank forever and will continue to do so until they die. They don't care about maximizing their interest. They may not even remember their money is there.

So overall, it's hard to say. If we somehow see a huge collapse then naturally bank stocks will decline with the market, otherwise I think some will perform well. You'll have to pick the right banks though.
