This is the tricky part. They do still have legal interest. The companies still exist, and from Russia's perspective the ownership stakes are still valid.
Sanctions from US side have blocked trading, but have not explicitly invalidated those stakes in future profits. So I don't think Blackrock can legally just steal them, or relinquish those shareholder rights unilaterally.

..but they'd also have no real way to fairly distribute pro-rata shares of the individual ETF positions to smaller holders. So until and unless they find another solution, it's kind of just in limbo.

Holding ADRs means additional fees and risks, but holding ETFs means even less control.
Ideally, buy foreign stocks directly on their primary listing. No reason to do anything else unless you're getting a meaningful discount.

I have a separate portfolio with some longer term bets that I rotate more slowly, so I tend to have some long term gains most years. The trick for this is that I only put 1/3 of my trading money in my brokerage account but trade CFDs balls to the wall like a retard. Hasbro stock fell because of the dungeons and dragons announcement that they back peddled quick so I expect that to bounce back up over the next month. It dropped 10% in 3 months.
Intel is low but I bought the original dip, still low on a year and 3 month history I'm expecting some decent gains after a bounce back, but I'm looking for AMD to lower and buy that too.
Pepsi is low at the moment and I expect it to rise again so I bought a little.
I'm also throwing some money into Northrop Grumman as a wildcard, an arms manufacturer that compared to all other arms sellers is wildly low for some reason, if Ukraine continues to heat up with these NATO tanks I can see it raising back up some what, I am concerned on why it is low, looking it up doesn't give any clear answers.
