I’d put Specifying Systems on the second row, and Distributed Systems either there or on row 3 from what I’ve skimmed from them so far

>Java vs Go
Java. Go is really only popular within google and among hipsters.
Even within google, they probably use C++ just as much from what I heard.
On top of that, they’re working on a new language called Carbon that’ll give Golang a short shelf life.
I had to learn Golang for my current job because my department is at least half ex-Googlers, and it’s honestly not that great at all.

Read his book.
Choose a number between 25 and 75 and put that percentage into a bond etf like tlt.

Then put the rest in spy. If you are really excited about the prospect of reading very boring balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements and then making excel spreadsheets, then take 10% of the stock money and use the stock filters for assets with an adequate margin of safety. Then read some annual reports to double check if leadership is A incompetent or B trying to fuck you. The way you determine this is in his fucking book. If the stock is adequately protected with a bargain price against its intrinsic value, do not spend more than 3.3% of your portfolio on any individual stock selection.

It is important to note that stock selections are ill advised and not worth anything close to the effort. Investing in spy and blv and just learning useful skills to get a good job or better yet start a business. It is genuinely the best use of your time and energy by a longshot.

To invest like Graham you have to like boring financial shit, and spurn gambling runs. He also does not talk much at all about shit like options or shorting.

> JEPI is a boggle heads dream. It's just sp500 that pays me even if it shits the bed
It is definitely not that. It’s buying convertibles, and makes money by writing calls against them. Sounds like a great way to sell overpriced volatility and also get exposure to corporate bonds. But the payouts sound really complicated with products i do not understand at all.

To be more specific, I meant that natural gas in the US is worth approximately zero.
Countries that import will continue to pay import costs. It's not that natural gas is useless, it's that we produce more than we need domestically, and a lot of that production comes as a byproduct. When the wells were shut-in due to the temporary post-covid oil surplus that brought WTI contracts negative, one side effect was the temporary appearance that natural gas production was back in balance.
The best way to play this is short companies like RRC and SWN.

Just be like me. Make money through other means and buy stocks for long term investment. Day trading appears to be a scam from what I've seen on this board. people are trying to compete with titans. It seems to me that the whole chart reading thing is an illusion and people are trying to infer future knowledge by drawing arbitrary lines when the real winners are the players at the top who have the influence and spending power to make the candles go up or down. People here are basically looking for breadcrumbs trying to guess what the big dogs are doing and without standing at the summit yourself you are sort of guessing, looking up with squinted eyes, looking for even a movement so that you can act accordingly. the main knowledge is obfuscated and its largely a guessing game. Ergo, gambling.

We're in both. Bull trap for general equities that might not play out for another 2 months. Bear trap for energy/metals/commodities related stocks.

Everyone is expecting a 25bps hike on Feb. 1st. Fed might deliver on expectations here, but what no one will expect is that they'll start panic hiking 50bps in March because China reopening will drive oil above $100. General equities will crash, commodities will continue to soar. Gold market is pricing this in right now.

Interesting. So what does this mean for my call credit spreads expiring 2/3? Should I just jump into calls for a little longer? I made a lot of money shorting last week, bought some ski tickets and booked some hotels, then lost all my gains and more during this last pump. So now I really need to make money by next week

PCE numbers are later today. This will tell us the likelihood of a 25bps or 50bps hike on Feb. 1st. If we get a 25bps hike, general equities will probably see a nice bounce and something of a rally into Feb and Mar. SPX has put in an inverse head and shoulders, so the technical are there. Plus most of retail is ultra bearish after big funds and talking heads have been signalling a recession for months on end, so the contrarian move is to be prepared to go long. But it won't last, because of the oil price, remember that Biden hasn't even refilled the SPR yet. Inflation will come roaring back on the supply side and Fed will come out with more hikes and raising fed funds rate target to like 6-7%. Also consider that ECB is planning two more 50bps hikes at their next two meetings, so that puts pressure on the dollar and DXY, which Powell doesn't like when it comes to fighting inflation.

The problem is that core inflation continues to rise despite the the interest rate rising. If the fed plays pussy foot with hiking we'll just get both inflation and a stagnant economy aka stagflation

We'll see. If PCE is on target, they might do only 25bps to be data driven and deliver on expectations. CNBC will come out with headlines like "one and now done." Money will flow. China hasn't fully opened yet, so inflation numbers or reflecting this, but it will relatively soon. Especially if oil goes to like $110-$120.
